Feed These Foods to Help Support Dog Eye Health
|
|
Do you want to help keep your dog's eyes healthy and problem-free for as long as possible? Sure you do!
One simple way to do that is to feed your dog some foods that contain eye-supporting nutrients, such as certain antioxidants (e.g. lutein, zeaxanthin, anthocyanins, vitamins C and E, zinc and selenium, etc.), and Omega-3 fatty acids.
You don't have to home cook for your dog in order to give such foods to the dog. Just by adding some such foods to your dog's regular diet as a topper, or giving them as treats can help strengthen and enhance your dog's eye and vision health.
Here is an article with information on nutrients essential to eye health, foods that are rich in such nutrients, and some suggestions as to how to give some such foods to your dog.
If you find it useful, please share it with other dog parents as well.

Glaucoma Could Lead to Blindness in Dogs!
|
Glaucoma is an eye disease that unfortunately is not uncommon among dogs, especially older dogs. Certain breeds are also more susceptible to this eye problem.
Glaucoma needs timely treatment. Any delay in treatment may cause serious damage to the eye, resulting in blindness. It is therefore extremely important for dog parents to familiarize themselves with the signs and symptoms of glaucoma in dogs.

Recipe - Hydrosol for Itchy Mildly Inflamed Eye
|
Occasionally your dog may be suffering from a mild eye inflammation that causes his eyes to become itchy. Sometimes, seasonal allergies may also cause your dog to have itchy eyes. You may see your dog pawing at the eyes, or rubbing the eyes on his bed. Inflamed eyes can appear a bit red and runny.
At first sign of an itchy eye, you can try using the hydrosol of Roman Chamomile (undiluted) as an eyewash. Then soak a clean cotton ball with the hydrosol and use it as a compress on the affected eye. Do that 2 to 3 times a day.
Unlike essential oils, hydrosols are very mild and not irritating, and can be used on the eyes, in the ears, and in the mouth.
NOTE: If your dog's eyes are badly inflamed or infected, don't try any home remedies but instead head straight to the vet!

Product Pick - Canna-Pet AdvancedMax CBD
|
This is a CBD product that has higher levels of CBD and other terpenes that allow better absorption. CBD is of course non-psychoactive and won't get your dog "high". It does, however, have a lot of health benefits to dogs, ranging from alleviating joint pain, relieving anxiety, preventing seizures, etc.
Some dog parents have also used this AdvancedMax CBD to maintain low eye pressures in their dogs with glaucoma.
Check out Canna-Pet's website if you need more information on what CBD can help your dog.
