Aloha New Paradigmers!
Shall we welcome the eclipse season? It is a month-long period of intensified change
and transformation, bringing up past patterns and conditioning (the result of past life choices and actions create this life’s childhood conditioning, you know) for consideration, ready, like it or not. Evolution is becoming conscious of the unconscious, so our soul is forever pushing us to acknowledge, own, and grow what we are unaware of about ourselves. And let’s face it, it’s all bad! And most often, even the “bad” is not as bad as we think!
The Moon, Pluto, and Saturn are probably the biggest symbols of these unconscious patterns that are repressed and projected as shadow rather than accepted, owned, understood, and integrated. The “shadow” is a tricky term for some to
understand, so let’s see if an example will help.
You’re born a bright, intelligent, and talented young person. You get good grades in school, and your parents and teachers praise you and have high expectations. You tell yourself that you are special
and will do great things in the world. At the same time, the religious beliefs that you’re brought up with say that the meek shall inherit the earth, it is wrong to be selfish, and good people are kind, loving, and nonjudgemental. You grow up and are successful in many different ways and try to be the best person you can be according to what you have been told a good person is. It bothers you that people litter, eat junk food, vote for idiots, and spend their money supporting corporations that
are destroying the earth. You express these concerns to your spouse and others and write about them or take an active public role in stopping the destruction. Again, you succeed! You become a spokesperson that people listen to, look up to, and respect.
And then
an eclipse comes around, LOL! Suddenly (it seems to you), your spouse has heard enough of your preaching, and some of the people you work with start to talk behind your back until, one day, you hear what they all have been saying about you: you’re arrogant. Yup, they think you think that you are smarter than them and everyone else, that you have a superiority complex, and are looking down your nose at them! OMG! You had no idea! You thought you were a nice, good person. However, it
turns out that you have a shadow of arrogance. So now you get to do some shadow work, listen to others, look and feel inside, try to find the roots of it, and through processing it, evolve and grow into a better version of yourself.
This is one simple example
of a shadow. There are 1000 more; they are “negative” feelings about yourself that you hide or bury, even from yourself. You may be selfish, manipulative, greedy, perverted, addicted, mean, abusive, dangerous, reckless, insensitive, godless, immoral, cruel, the list goes on and on, AND YOU MAY NOT EVEN KNOW IT! That is, wait for it… until an eclipse comes around! So don’t be too hard on yourself or others during this time. Everybody’s wounded, everybody has a shadow, and everyone is, at
some level, trying to grow and evolve. Let’s be gentle helpers for each other and not rub it in.
