Doom, doom, doom.

If you've been connected with us for more than a couple of weeks, you know that we're really averse to doom-saying.

[Our kids love this silly little clip - I honestly don't get it. Probably you won't get it either. Forgive me in advance, because it will probably stick in your head as it has mine, LOL. ]

When Oliver puts out an article or post that has challenging or disturbing information, it almost always has a "what we can do about it" aspect to it. We're not the kind to simple lookeyloo at grim news like passers-by at an accident scene.

We were born for this. And so were you.

We have noticed that those who are attracted to the message of Leadership Education tend to feel like they were actually born to thrive in crisis and help others find peace and happiness in the process. We think that's really fantastic.

People who don't understand what's really going on or who feel unprepared are going to feel stressed and out of control, their jobs and families are going to suffer; while those who have principles and information to help make sense of it all, and to take advantage of the opportunities (that's right, their are opportunities during crisis eras!) will be optimistic and energized.

Although we're not prone to disseminating disturbing news, with daily news updates detailing the erosion of our culture and the assaults on our economy, security and constitutional protections and forms, we are astonished, if not surprised, by reports such as these:

Tax increases on middle class leave middle class befuddled, betrayed and hurting
Threatened additional downgrading of U.S. national credit rating
Proposed executive order on gun control (no matter where you stand on the issue of gun ownership, the suggestion of executive order to circumvent the Bill of Rights is a disturbing precedent)

We've long been saying that we had a Calm before a Storm, a time to prepare, so that we all could thrive in a crisis and bring a sense of meaning and purpose to those who may look to us (you included!) for steadying, empowering and inspiring leadership.

In our estimation, the Calm is nearly past.

The time to prepare is growing short. For many, the crisis is already at the door, as their homes, families, physical strength, and livelihoods are threatened in a variety of ways. The underpinnings of freedom are eroding and the wisdom of the people is not nearly broad enough, their personal health, financial independence and relationship reservoirs not nearly deep enough to carry us through the Storm.

Over the next several months, Oliver will be dedicating a large portion of his time (when he's not writing) to teaching courses specifically designed to help individuals, families and community influencers develop in these needed areas. We hope that our efforts can be a part of a broader movement to re-establish our national ideals of Providence, Liber, Georgics, Public Virtue and Liberty.

The first offering is a class with a focus on helping participants refine the skills of discerning the principles and issues that need their attention, and how to plan and prepare now to make the most of these exciting and challenging times. These times can be just what our families need, and just what you've been waiting for all you life!

What is really going on in the world? Too often we can't really trust the media spin about current events, yet we all need to understand the truth of world events. Moreover, we need to know what trends and cycles tell us about what's ahead.

The coming years will be times of challenge, yet few people have an accurate understanding of what to expect. In this class, we'll address all of these issues, and help each participant get a clear picture of world events and the trends and cycles that are shaping the decade ahead--and beyond.

Those who take this class will know what to look for in world events, how to see through the media, how to find out what is really happening, and how to effectively plan and prepare.

What You'll Get Every Week

Each week you'll receive an email with a 60-90 minute audio by Oliver DeMille, including a discussion of the week's assigned reading. You can listen to it at the time of your choosing, whatever works best for your schedule. You'll also get several simple assignments to help you more effectively see through the façade of media spin.

Course Details

Class will run from January 22th through February 26th, 2013. Each week for the duration of the course, you will receive an mp3 audio of Oliver's instruction (approximately 90 minutes in duration), with a corresponding class handout-delivered directly to you via email. Enrichment activities will be suggested and ideas for writing, discussion and application will follow each class period.
