- Beginner's Luck - This superstition revolves around the idea that because one is a beginner at a game of chance, that this somehow contributes to the supposed "luck" that one has.
- Pick up a penny - Why would anyone bend for a penny anymore? It's almost more trouble than it is worth...at least my back can feel it sometimes if I bend down to grab one on the sidewalk. Many people believe that a dropped penny that is picked up becomes "lucky."
- A black cat crossing your path - I've watched a good number of people throughout
my life look with raised eyebrows if a black cat crosses in front of them. I've even heard some explain, "bad omen."
The list could go on and on but you get the picture. The devil would like nothing more than to convince people that life merely "happens" by some strange twist of fate. The scriptures tell us that "the fool has said in his heart, 'there is no God.'" Psalm 14:1
Can we believe otherwise if we have had no personal experience with our Heavenly Father? It seems that almost anything can be explained away if there are enough scientists to back up a theory.
It's awfully
difficult to argue however, with a personal testimony of a legitimate change that has taken place in the heart and life of an individual. There's a real honesty that can be conveyed through someone who has had a life turn-around. If it's authentic, it's difficult to fake.
I'm thankful that Christians don't have to life by "luck." We
can live by "love," and the power of God to help us make a life that is honest, real, and fulfilled.
Have a great day and God bless!
