Hello ,
My wife is in a wheelchair, so it was only
been natural for all of our babies to rest comfortably on her lap while I push her where she needs to go. One summer afternoon when our eldest daughter was about 15 months old, I was guiding the chair down the steep incline of a sidewalk. Although I was in control of the chair, the steep incline caused me to jog behind so that I could maintain my hold of the handles. What took place that day still amazes me.
The wheelchair hit a "lip"
in the concrete that we had not noticed and it stopped suddenly. My little girl shot from my wife's arms and up into the air before we realized what had occurred. I can still recall the sick feeling in the pit of my stomach as I helplessly watched in horror. Then something miraculous took place. Like a movie in slow motion, my child quietly and calmly descended through the air and came to rest on the pavement unharmed. It was as if a strong pair of unseen hands took
control and brought her safely down.
I was reminded of the verse found in the book of Psalms: "For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone" (Psalm 91:11-12).
This verse was literally demonstrated to us and to the people that watched the accident happen that
day more than 20 years ago. We were moving fast enough to have caused considerable harm or even death to our precious little girl. We can find no other explanation than that of God's protection through a family angel who was keeping a watchful eye.
Our family seeks daily the protection of an Almighty God who has the ability to keep us safe. Our divine "body guard" is always invited to place a protective hedge about our
family. We wouldn't leave home without it!
Have a great day and God bless!
