How and when did you discover the Maine Coon Cat breed?
Hi Carrie, good morning! We grew up with these beautiful cats!
How did you become involved in breeding, & how long have you been breeding Maine Coon cats?
The 'American' Maine Coon was always a

Not at this time, but would love to!

Shiloh, Lily and Loki are starring in our Summer Album. It's been a lazy kind of summer, and also the world's first more-normal kind of summer since the pandemic, so we don't have as many Coonies as usual!
New Maybe-Maines: In our "is s/he a Maine Coon or mix?" section, folks come to ask other Maine Coon lovers in this community for their opinion. Feel free to visit and share your thoughts on these lovely kitties: Samarah: Gabriella in Rhode Island shares:
"Samarah is a very active cat, she loves to run, jump and play fight with her sister Milan. She is two months younger than Milan and is almost double her
size!"
"Got him animal shelter when he 10 weeks and he was a bigger than normal kitten. He has large paws and when winter started he got more fluffy around the neck and
ears, and more fluffy on his tail.."
"Hi everyone! I think my stray might be a maine coon mix! I'm Alice, and my beautiful cat is named Alessio. A friend of mine found him and I adopted him. He's so different from any of the various cats my family has! He's
super loving and loves laying with his belly up..." ...continue reading Alessio
Zaya: Denise in Nebraska shares:

her what her breed was again and..."

Featured Coonie: I'm excited to welcome back a personal favorite feature of this newsletter, Featured Coonie Interviews! Here, we
interview Amy's stunning boy Hunley and get to know him a little better:
Hello Hunley! It is so nice to meet you. Let's get this party started! Tell us a little about yourself: How old are you? Are you a purebred Coonie, or mix? Do you
have any nicknames, or maybe a longer name? What is your color? My name is Hunley and I am one year old. I am a black smoke purebred Maine Coon. I live with my human family of Kyle, Amy, Laurel and
Carter.
We live in Gilbert, SC. We are out in the country which is great for bird watching! I will spot a bird and run from window to window trying my best to catch him as
he flies away. I have been told I am a super smart boy. I know how to sit, lay down and high five. How did you come to live with Amy? Did she choose you, or did you choose her?
I was born in Summerville, SC. Amy wanted Enzo to have a brother to play with
and she anxiously waited for me to be born. She got news of my arrival and I was the only kitten in my litter. She got updates and photos of me from the moment I was born and fell in love with me. Since I was the only kitten in that litter I got so much attention
and was spoiled rotten. My previous family had a hard time letting me go because I was so very special. After I was old enough Amy and Kyle came to get me. They took me to my new
home and I was not scared at all. It was like I had always lived here. I do love it here! Amy buys me toys all the time. I enjoy getting toys out of my toy box to play with.
Are there any other animals in the house? If so, do you love them, torture them, or tolerate them?
I have one older brother
named Enzo. He is also a Maine Coon. He is the typical older brother. He tries to tell me what to do and likes to pick fights with me at times. I do love him though! We have so much fun playing together.
What is your favorite way to bond with your people? Is there a special game
you play, or place you like to snuggle?
I love my whole family so much but don't tell the others that Amy is my favorite! She works from home so she is with me all the time.
She has an embroidery business and I help her everyday. She really couldn't do it without me. I only work to around 2pm then I leave it with her. I have to take a nap after all that hard work. I do love
it when she does her computer work.
I get on the desk and start being the sweet guy that I am. I like to give her hugs. I put my arms around her neck and love all over her. I also love learning new
things. Anytime the family is doing something interesting I have to watch. I don't mess I just sit and observe. When Amy cooks I sit on the table
and watch very intently. I am trying me best to learn how to cook some of those good meals she makes. Maybe one day I can surprise with a meal?!?!? I also like it when Carter changes his guitar strings. That is really fun to watch!
Do you have any super-funny quirks? Anything that puzzles or annoys your people? Life as a cat has to include some mischief! Tell us how you stir things
up!
I have one funny quirk that makes my family laugh at me. A few months back they got a new refrigerator. Let me tell you I instantly fell in love (borderline
obsessed!) with that fridge. I have to stop and admire it all through out the day. I like to just sit and stare at it. Sometime I have to get up from my nap to just go look at it. It is so beautiful. My family has started calling it my girlfriend. I do love that
fridge!
Amy sometimes says I am like having a toddler again. I do like to explore and have fun. One day Amy came home from getting groceries and found me on top of the
kitchen cabinets. She said she didn't know how I got up there since there is no counter to help me up.
Well, one day I decided I would show her how I do it. I just jumped right up 8 ft to get on top of the cabinets. It isn't hard at all!! I am a jumping
machine!
There was this one time I was just hanging out laying in the bathroom sink relaxing. Well, I don't know what happened but suddenly water came out and I started
getting really wet. I took off running trying to get away from it but I left a water trail behind me. Amy wasn't happy about that but boy did she laugh at me. I haven't went back
to that spot again. Too dangerous! Wow, Hunley! What adventures! It really sounds like you are living your best life. I'm sure your family feels lucky to have you, including Enzo 😜. Thank you so much for coming by, and sharing what life is like with a big beautiful Maine Coon boy.
Would your Coonie like to be featured in an upcoming PAWSitive Passages? Wonderful! Just visit this form to get started.
