Emotional Intelligence and Project Management |
|
Emotional intelligence is the ability to monitor your emotions or the emotions of others and use this to guide your actions. A shorter way to say this is to recognize or regulate emotions in ourselves and others. As project managers, we deal with people all day, every day, and we rely on them to get the job done. In this article, I’ll show you how you can use your
emotional intelligence in the different project management knowledge areas and how you can improve your skills. But first, let’s take a look at how this branch of management thinking first started.

Forum discussion: Audit failure
|
We are sharing this forum discussion about PMI® application audit because it is a good reference.
Here is the question from our forum member, Rekha Karthickeyan:
"Appreciate any help on this. My PMI application went into audit. I sent my experience
verification forms in a sealed envelope filled and signed / sealed by my former managers under whom I executed the projects. My education and 35 contact hours have been verified but I have been assigned a non-fault audit failure as per below. I have been truthful in my role description but u may not have used wording expected by PMI. Any suggestions on how to redraft my application so I don't have to deal with this again?..."

"I passed the PMP exam last week on the first attempt, and I know the PMP Exam Simulator was a key to preparing me for the exam. Starting at about six months prior to the exam, I read the entire Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) and took extensive notes. After studying my notes for a few weeks, I began taking the simulator quizzes. By reviewing the answers, I was able to focus on my weak areas and
it confirmed my stronger areas. As I felt more comfortable with the material and passed the quizzes, I developed a study plan to take a different four-hour simulated exam each weekend for the six weeks prior to the actual exam. By passing the simulated exams, improving my score each week and reviewing my right and wrong answers on each test, it gave me the confidence to take the exam and pass it. The PM Exam Simulator was a must-have for preparing for the PMP exam."
