Sample Question and Answer
|
You are a project manager working for a client to build property on Lake Ontario. The project is expected to complete before winter arrives and makes construction too costly to perform. Three days before closing, the client calls and says he wants to add an outdoor sauna to the property. You analyze the project schedule and determine that this change would
be fairly easy to implement without any impacts to the project completion date. In this situation, what should you do first?
A. Begin construction as your schedule analysis revealed no potential issues B. Review the change against project constraints C. Have the sponsor verify if the change violates winter construction regulations D. Contact the change control board for proper implementation procedures HINT: As a project manager, you need to make
sure you have everything you need to properly execute a change and understand its possible impacts on the project.

Changing a Management Plan in a Controlling Process vs a Planning Process
|
Let's help our forum member answer this question:
"The management plans (Cost, Schedule, Scope, etc etc) are created in a Planning process (for example Plan Cost Management creates the Cost Management Plan).
The PMBOK® Guide states that all (or almost all) of these Planning
processes can occur several times to either create or update the plan. This is in line with the Progressive Elaboration concept, for example.
But many of the controlling processes have updates to these management plans as outputs. For example: I can update the Cost Management Plan in either the Plan Cost Management process or the Control Costs process.
How do I know when to use one process or the other when I need to change a management
plan? And when I need to implement an approved change request and update one of the management plans as a consequence of the change, what process should I use?"

"...Personally, I read the PMP handbook several times. From here, you will have a better understanding of what you are about to undertake and what it requires. The handbook serves as your "how to" manual as you start your journey to becoming a PMP. It provides inputs on what to expect during your application, the audit process, exam policies and procedures, as well as your continuing certification requirements. For new students,
it is highly recommended to read the PMP handbook at least twice.
I would highly recommend that you visit the testing center one week before your exam date. This is to ensure that you do not get any unpleasant surprises with regards to the exam location, parking, or other test taking guidelines. From my experience, I visited the testing center a week before my exam date. During the exam day, I had difficulty finding a parking space. Good thing, I was still able to make it on
time..."
