How to Fill in the PMP Application
|
Once you’ve decided to go ahead and take the PMP exam, there’s one major step to take next. You have to fill in the application form.
The application form for the PMP exam is online and accessed via the Project Management Institute (PMI)® website. If you have not filled in an online form like this before, it might look daunting. The site asks you to collect various bits of information, and enter them into the form.
There are also sections to fill in that cover your knowledge of the topics in A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) - Sixth Edition.
Don’t let this step stop you from reaching your goal of becoming a PMP credential holder. When you know more about what to expect, the online form suddenly becomes a lot easier to complete!

Student Profile: Jessica Jones, PMP
"...Reading the PMBOK® Guide prior to your exam is daunting, but essential. PMI® uses some very specific terminology in certain areas that can be key to understanding questions in the PMP® exam and answering them correctly. I combined a read-through of the PMBOK® Guide with a study guide and the PM PrepCast.
The variety helped break things up a bit and gave me several different ways to understand the PMBOK® Guide material. For me a single read-through was sufficient, but others may prefer to go through it more than once..."

For the last several decades the PMI has been using Prometric for its exams. If you wanted to pass a PMI® exam then, in most cases, you needed to do so at a Prometric testing center.
This week, PMI announced that beginning July 1st 2019 it is moving to Pearson VUE for all its certification examinations worldwide (except for China).
