The Project Management Institute (PMI)® has announced that the Project Management Professional (PMP)® exam change that was originally scheduled for December 16, 2019, has now been moved to July 1, 2020.
If you are currently preparing for your PMP® exam, then this is a welcome extension to your schedule because it means that you now don't have to rush.
My advice is don't let this date change become a reason for you to become complacent. Don't go and "slack off" just because there is additional time until the change.
Instead, consider this to be an opportunity for you to review your current study schedule and adjust it "just a bit" to give yourself a little more breathing room. It is by no means a reason for you to say "Oh good! I can do this next year then".
Keep it up. Keep studying. Get PMP certified NOW!
I have also interviewed Sierra Hampton-Simmons in the latest episode of The PM Podcast.
Sierra has nearly two decades of experience as an expert in Certification Management and joined PMI in late 2013.
Currently, she serves as the Portfolio Leader/Head of Certification Products. This means that she is responsible for the entire portfolio of Certification Products including the PMP® exam.
So she’s the perfect person to discuss both the background and nature of the changes.
You'll even get to hear that PMI is making changes to the type and style of questions a candidate will see during the exam itself.

Student Profile: Shirley Y. Gabug-Al Hoda, MPM, CHRP, PMP
"...When thinking of applying for PMP certification, it is very important that a candidate read the official PMP Handbook from Project Management Institute (PMI)® from the beginning in order to understand the overall A-Z structure of the certification process, as well as significant information in maintaining the PMP certification. For me, it served as a first-point reference wherein I can always get my doubts clarified or
answered.
During the preparation & review stage, I had with me three references, including A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) and online mock exams from The PM PrepCast..."
