Special Issue

"Sometimes when we stand in nature, open as the new dawn, Everything seems so simple. Remember that moment, that simplicity....all week long."

Dear ,

The above image and quote by Dewitt Jones is from one of his weekly "Celebrate What's Right With The World" series of photographs.

As I'm preparing for my interview with Dewitt tomorrow night (Tuesday, 1/11 at 8:30 PM), I spent the weekend immersed in watching his videos and taking notes beyond those I originally took.

This is a "Don't Miss" free call! especially, if you have been a appreciating Picture to Ponder for a while, even as long as six years. You will definitely come away with an expanded view on ways of seeing, visually and in all areas of your life, both with a camera and without. You'll feel the juice in your life.

Part of what thrilled me when I was introduced to Dewitt's work, about a year ago, was/is his beautiful expression and demonstration of what I've been a stand for for years in Picture to Ponder and other areas of my professional life... Paying attention, discovering what opens up, and so much more.

On a page with an overview of his training films, the description of the "Celebrate What's Right With the World":

"Dewitt Jones asks: Do we choose to see possibilities? Do we really believe they're there? He assures us that we will only see it when we believe it. And when we believe it, we will find possibilities that give us the courage to soar."

"Beyond Our Own Boundaries" -

In her "Beyond Our Own Boundaries" blog post today on Breathing Spaces, Gaye Abbot, in whose ezine I was introduced to Dewitt, wrote:

"Last year I found an amazing photojournalist, Dewitt Jones, who works with National Geographic. For me he represents that wild, creative, and curious soul that isn't afraid to wait for opportunity to present itself.

He inhabits a breathing space of promise, possibility, vision, and the sacred in the practice of everyday creativity. I was so taken with him that I posted a video that left me inspired to tap my own deep well of creativity and see possibility everywhere. I give it here for you again in 'Celebrate What Is Right With The World'."

She concludes:

This interview is Tuesday, January 11, 8:30-9:30 EST so please go to the link to sign up. It is free of charge and an MP3 will be made available to you if you can't be on the call.

Even if you don't consider yourself a photographer, or better yet wish that you knew more about it, the time with both of them will take you to an expanded breathing space of how you "see" the world around you!

In the comments section on this post, PTP subscriber Morgine Jurdan, www.morginejurdan.com, friend and past participant in the Through and From The Lens courses, wrote:

"I have been communicating with animals and nature for about eighteen years and it has transformed my life in so many ways I have lost count. DeWitt reminded me to LIVE those things I learned more fully in every moment of every day of my life."

More of Dewitt's philosophy -

In "Creativity Every Day", Dewitt states:

"What's Creativity? ... Not something magic or mystical. To me it's just a moment. . . Happens in a moment... When we look at the ordinary and see the extraordinary... Feels like falling in love. Falling in love with the world...

How can we use our creativity every day to make our work and our lives truly extraordinary? It's falling in love with the world and in every act I have the potential for doing something."

In "Focus Your Vision," he states:

"It's amazing what you see when you slow down enough to really listen and look.  No use moving ahead until you have an idea where you are going.  No use pushing the shutter until you have a vision and the vision won't come into focus if you are moving too fast."

Throughout, Dewitt passionately shares all that he learned, and learns, from using his camera on photo shoots, translating into metaphors for life.
