Volume 7 - Issue 23

Dear ,

Today's photos were taken with my iPhone. Each was enhanced with one or two iPhone FX Photo Studio applications, along with slight Photoshop Elements touch-ups.

Before checking to see what the subjects are, if you are not sure, please take a moment or two to simply be with them, noticing what, if anything, appeals to you.

For me, in part, it's what happened with the colors. I'm also aware of how resistant I've been to "getting into" any/many of the hundreds of photo applications. Now that I've put my "toes in the water", I am really excited with some of my own results as well as those of others.

Ken Signorello, who has a gallery in Vermont, sent me a link to the 50 camera phone photos from around the world that were juried into an upcoming show. See Phone-o-graphic Arts if you, too, are intrigued. Some of them are quite amazing.

Now on to

Today's Picture to Ponder Photo Story which results in the Queries -

I had just started walking from my car through a parking lot when the bright reflections in a tail light of the car next to mine caught my attention. Naturally I stopped and started taking photographs of it and the other at different angles. I was intrigued with overall shape of the lamps, as well as the bright and contrasting colors.

I glanced over at my silver-colored car and thought my lights were rather dull. Since my car now had caught my eye, I decided to go back and look at its lamps through the "eye" of the camera. The rear lamps felt rather "stodgy", so I went around the front of the car and somewhat disinterestedly, took a few photos of the headlights.

A few days later when I decided to do some experimentation with a photo "app"(lication) or two it was the silver photo that attracted my attention first. I wondered would happen with the multitude of shapes and textures.

The middle and bottom photos are two of the three resulting variations that I saved. Then I went to one of photos of the images that had first attracted me. The top photo was my instant choice.

The variation in it from the original is minimal. Yet the contrast is dramatic in the intensity and then the subtlety of lavender which appeared. If you are one who might be interested in seeing the originals and comparing images, you can at Reflections from Car Lamps.

Self-Reflecting Queries
The above story is an example of going through life - moments, perhaps hours, sometimes days and beyond - thinking that things are better elsewhere, on the "other side of the street".

I now invite you to look at your life. Is there an area(s) where you are feeling "lack"? If so, I invite you to get present, to see and to note what it is you can acknowledge in your own "back yard"/current circumstances.

Are there situations or things that might take on a whole new and exciting opportunities were you to apply a few simple adjustments, as happened with the photo app enhancements?

Also, is there anything new that you've been reluctant to try, as I was with the new photo applications? If so, I invite you to take whatever the next step would be.

As always, have fun, and please share on the blog what comes up for you.
