Volume 7 - Issue 27

Dear ,

I am thrilled to share with you that Pictures to Ponder: Inspired Journaling - Flowers Book 1 is now available on iBooks for download on iPads and iPhones. I got notification of this from Lulu Books just after I made the commitment to create and publish another book on Kindle by July 30th. Amazing synchronicity!

In a celebration of this and a slightly belated July 4th, I've created a special for only $7.47 for the PDF download of the book for any computer. The special is good through July 10th.

The book consists of flower photos from early issues of Picture to Ponder, plus Self-Reflecting Queries, with spaces to journal on each, if you so wish. The photos are larger than you see them in the ezine and online, giving you more of an opportunity for a fuller experience with each. For more details and links for the iBooks and/or the PDF on Lulu, see BOOK.

Now on to
Today's Picture to Ponder Photos -

canteloupe with knife

Today's photos describe a kitchen counter venture. They are also a result of following through on what, as you know, I'm always telling myself and others, "If you see something that catches your eye, take a picture."

The top photo represents almost not following through on that. The section of seeds on this cantaloupe happened to be quite different from what I usually see. I thought to take a photo and then said, "No, I don't want to," and stuck the knife in to start cutting up the fruit for eating.

Then I reminded myself that I have a 30 Day Create the Impossible commitment to create and publish a book on Kindle. The main part of the goal to be following through to completion on something I said I would do. I LOVE the ideas and not always the follow through. Can you relate to this?

Bottom line, I did go for my camera and then continued on, deciding to empty out the little ceramic pot that holds some of my other dried out Nature treasures.

dried lemon peel

The above photo is of a dried up rind from the top of a lemon.
It especially intrigues me because it's rock hard.

Looking at it reminded me of the piece of writing on Love and Laughter that I had been transcribing earlier. I love the transformation it made and when I start looking at the shapes, I see faces and all kinds of imagery that bring up smiles.

And, for more fun and smiles, there was this graceful dried up core of a garlic bulb. I love the little curlicue twist at the top and the graceful "skirt".

The longevity and transformation of so many of our fruits and vegetables is astounding when we pay attention to it.

Self-Reflecting Queries -
Today, I invite you to look into your life to take note on your process of declaration and completion on projects? Is this easy for you?

Are you aware of repeated patterns of behaviors? Do you have systems for follow-through? Support structures?

Are there specific things that it's easier for you to follow through on?

As noted, for me, one thing is taking pictures when something catches my eye, even when I don't want to. Invariably something interesting comes out of this.

As always, have fun, and please share on the blog what comes up for you.

Writing Program -
Starting Monday, July 11th through Friday, July 15th, Julie Jordan Scott is once again offering her week-long Writing Camp for an incredibly low price. This is a great program for tapping into yourself, discovering pieces of you of which you may not even been aware. At least this has been my experience.

All is accomplished with an hour call daily, brief writing from prompts, plus a great community of participants...always.

I registered unhesitatingly. So much of who I am today, I owe to work with Julie in courses I've taken over the past 8 or 9 years. Multi-talented, she's great in creating community and a large portion of my close friends, worldwide, have come as a direct, or indirect, result of working with Julie.

Recently I came across writing I did in various programs with her in 2005 and 2006. I never knew what words the pen would scribe across the paper, and once out they were often amazing. A compilation of these, and more, will be the Kindle book that I am creating.

An example, as referenced in Today's Photos story:

"Laughter and love will change the face of my life. Laughter and love will change the way I view our situation  It will ease of pain and angst of whatever comes up with Sam and his Parkinson's Disease.

Laughter and love will bring smiles to his face and ease the pain in my heart.  Laughter and love.

"LL" what does it mean?  Lightness and love.  Leisure and laughing.

Where do I find the laughter?  In the ease that follows, remembering all there is is love. No matter what the circumstances, what the trials, laughter awaits somewhere.

Is it lurking in the leaves? LL = Laughter lurks." 3/1/06

It would certainly be great to have a Picture to Ponder subscriber community as part of the week's calls. Again, the info can be found on Writing Camp.
