Volume 7 - Issue 51

Dear ,

Walking in Green Cay past sunset today I had the sudden thought that it would be a great idea to acknowledge the year's end with the day's end in the place from whence so many of our Picture to Ponder photos come.

Thus I grabbed my iPhone and set the video recorder to give me the opportunity to more directly thank you and wish you a Happy, Healthy New Year.

Sheila Finkelstein thanks subscribers and wishes a happy new year at Green Cay Sunset

Today's Photos
are from just past a sunrise, also at Green Cay Wetlands.

The top two photos are of the pipe railing along a short incline along the Green Cay Wetlands boardwalk. Captured with the camera (iPhone) are the morning dew and the reflected sunlight.

The bottom photo is to simply ground you, if you are one who likes to know exactly what something is.

I thought it was appropriate here, in the last issue of Picture to Ponder in 2011, to use it also as a suggestion of moving into the path of the New Year, 2012. On the other hand, as I write and be with the photo, I realize, we could also view it with the perspective of walking "from" 2011, moving toward us.

Self-Reflecting Queries -
As I was putting this issue together, I started thinking of stories I could "make up" from the images, associating them with the past year or the upcoming. The piping in the top is made of two segments. The dew covering the railing in the middle photo is more prominent than in the top, more subtly covered. We could make up stories and associations about that. As so it goes.

I also started up two stories related to the third photograph, including shifting perspectives, something to which I refer quite frequently.

This all seems a fitting way to end the year in which we so often discussed the "stories" we make up, often living them as though they were the reality.

So, for today, I invite you to observe yourself. Are you content to simply be with each of the photos, whatever that may mean for you? or does your mind start churning with descriptions, questions, looking for answers, creating analogies? How does this relate to the rest of your life?

Lastly, I invite you to pause for a few minutes and reflect on where you have found the most beauty in your life this year.

As always I invite you to have fun with the photos and queries. Please share on the blog your experiences with them and what comes up for you.

May your blessings abound for now and into the New Year.

Inspirationally, with love,
