Finally, I stepped back and looked up at the full scene. I was amazed at what I discovered. I had totally misinterpreted what I was sure I had seen. As I photographed and videoed, I laughed at my mistaken assumptions.
I quickly finished, went into my home, raced into my office and immediately individually texted four friends – Blaise, Ruth, Lila and Marianne - with a video clip of the "bird" spreading its wings”. After reading their replies I texted a still photo of the “bird”.
I wondered how each would perceive the image. I did not tell them what I thought it was. My simple question to them, “What do you see?” resulted in…
WAIT! As I started sharing the responses, I realized that it would deprive you of experiencing some of the fun of guessing yourself.
What do YOU, , see in the photo and first video?
I was amazed that Ruth, instantly texted me the correct answer. You will be able to see ALL of the responses by going to the blog post. The link for it is at the end of this message.
In the post you will also be able to see a video of the full front-of-the-open-garage scene that shows what was creating what I saw as a bird flapping its wings.
My two main points to the above story:
1 – There are many different ways to see and interpret the same thing or situation. It’s possible to have ease in a conflicting communication experience. One of the benefits the upcoming workshop will be the opportunity to experience the results of different perceptions while in a non-threatening environment.
2 – My initial experience with my bird image interpretation had a singular focus. I was reminded after a while, that it is often necessary to view the whole picture (in interactions and landscapes) as well as isolated circumstances to find our answers.
Lastly:
To help me as I prepare for the upcoming workshop on Wednesday, July 27th, I'd very much appreciate your answers to one or both of the following questions.
Amongst the topics I will be covering are simple technology tips that you can use to share your excitement and joy with others.
1 - What is/are your preferred way/s of communicating?
Texting? phone calls? Meetings? Email? Facebook? other social media platforms? Other?
2 – Are there any specific areas that present technical challenges for you in communicating and/or in using your smartphone, tablet or computer in relation to photography… taking great photos? Sharing photos? Videos?
Again, I'd love to read your response to the above question(s). Simply REPLY to this email to share them with me,
or you can Leave a reply at the end of the blog post.
