Hi, .
The following story is not about writing children's books. I am not a children's book author. Although I taught art in an elementary school, I
have never written a book for children, other than the one below, solely for my granddaughter. You'll notice as you read, and see the photos in the video I will be creating during the program, how many of the elements in my story came from my responses to suggestions that came from the photos themselves... reminding us of the importance of being present to what we see. Very often you will
find your story in images...part of what we pay attention to in this program.
Many years ago, when my granddaughter Kaitlyn was 2 1/2 years old, she asked her father, my son, to call me in New Jersey to ask me to make a book for her. I was surprised and somewhat taken aback. I had no idea where to start.
Then I remembered "The NeverEnding Story," Kaitlyn's favorite movie. She watched it often during the time Poppy and I were visiting her in Florida. The story was about a young boy who traveled into a fantasy world after a book fell off a nearby shelf.
Note: The cover got spotted over the years due to the glue.
At that point, Sam and I already had several photo albums of photographs he had taken from the time we met through all the years of our marriage. He had developed and printed the pictures, and often annotated them with story captions. As I looked through them for ideas, I suddenly remembered the movie. This led me to the idea of creating "Kaitlyn's Never-Ending Story" book in which
she takes a journey with Smokey, her dog, and Witchie, a stick puppet.
In the book, we first see her in a color photo putting together a puzzle, thinking about the movie she had just seen. When she finished the puzzle Kaitlyn said, "I know. I'll go into my own "Rest of the Story" book and have my own adventure."
"I will go back and find Daddy as a baby. I will help him grow up and find Mommy so I can be born."
They had to swim a long way in a body of water to get to, and go through, a big waterfalls. After going through waterfalls, they were back in time, long before her father was born. They saw a man and a woman and a newspaper that said it was 1960, the year Sam and I met and got married.
For the rest of "Kaitlyn's Never-Ending Story: Part 1", I invite you to register for the "Finding Joy and Creativity with Your Phone
Camera program.
During the Bonus 2nd Session tomorrow, Wednesday, August 3rd, 11:00 AM PDT/ 2:00 PM EDT, I will be mirroring my iPhone in screen share. I will be demonstrating how you can easily create slide show videos on your phone camera, with voiceover after you've added the photos. Or, you can add
photos to an already recorded audio track. A video can even be created by using only one photo!!
I'm sure you will get as excited as I was when my curiosity led me to discovering how EASY it is to do all of this on my phone, much simpler than on the computer.
In addition to creating past or present memory movies, you can be easily creating videos for business, and for relaxation and stress relief as you watch slide shows with beautiful and/or intriguing photos and music. A lot of scientific study says that if we can't be in Nature than just looking at pictures of Nature can have a soothing and calming
effect.

As soon as you register for the "Finding Joy and Creativity with Your Phone Camera program, you will get a link to a page with the pre-class quick warm-up exercises, and more, along
with the first Session's Replay, broken up into 4 videos with brief descriptions of each, making it easier for you to follow.
Also, based on questions I was asked, I've created and included a screen share video demonstrating photo editing directly in the PHOTOS app on the iPhone. Similar is available on Android phones.
- IMPORTANT -
Wednesday's 90-minute Bonus Session with Q&A follow-up IS NOT dependent on what was experienced in last week's session, so you will not have to go through the above materials before attending tomorrow. And, YES the Bonus Session will be recorded.
I do recommend that you download and look at the "7 Tips to Get Out of a Funk" before the session. The link is in the Welcome email, which also will have details on a few things that will be helpful for you in understanding the underpinning of the program.
I very much appreciate your being part of my virtual family. It would be great if you can join us. For the more details, and to register, tap/click on "Finding Joy & Creativity with Your Phone Camera."
