Most efficient way to find answers - ask or research?
Published: Wed, 12/14/22
Hi, .
When it comes to finding solutions to challenges, are you one who goes right to the source to find answers?Or, do you, like I and many of my
friends and associates, start doing extensive Google searches, sometimes calling friend and colleagues for help.
Then after sometimes after spending an inordinate amount of time "researching" technical challenges with with my electronic devices…computer, phone, iPad, printer, hard drives I’ve purchased, software, appliances, etc., I remember: "Call the source…describe the problem
and ask what the resolution is. Usually it’s resolved in one phone call, sometimes a very short one!"

Very often now, "Hey, Siri" (as discussed in my last
email) is more and more becoming my first go-to source for quickly getting information and how-to's. I use my phone to access "her" even when on my computer. She's quicker and resonds in Voice as well as text.
On Android phones, "Hey Google" or "Ok Google" results in similar access to
information.
Please note: If you do not have a smartphone, the following will not apply to you and I invite you to continue reading anyway. You might have one or more family members or friends who do have smartphones are NOT familiar with what am I about to
share.
I'm sure they will be impressed with, and appreciate, your letting them know about the following.
How to quickly and easily identify flowers and
plants using your photos on both iPhones and Androids -
Yesterday, I had an unexpected and exciting discovery and result. Upon exiting to the parking lot after a Green Cay Wetlands walk last week, I saw someone taking a photo of flowers on a tree. I had never noticed these flowers before. I, thus, took several photos and then posted the one below
in the Wetlands Facebook group, asking if anyone knew what the flowering tree was.
Several people responded, "a Crape (or Crepe) Myrtle." Some of them suggested different Flower and Plant Identity Apps. I got excited when one person commented that if I had an iPhone there is an identity method within Photos themselves on the phone.
I spent a long time questioning her,
in comments, as to whether or the iPhone had to have a particular Operating System, etc.The next day I saw that I had never entered my comment.
Rather than go through all the writing again, it occurred to me to ask "Hey, Siri" - Android userscan ask Google the same, with “Hey
Google” or “Ok Google”
I asked Siri if the iPhone has a way of identifying flowers and plants. Her answer led me to the amazing (for me) discovery that is so simple!
If you have an iPhone and it’s Operating system is iOS 15 or higher
Select a photo in the PHOTOS app.
Tap on the little information "i" icon at the bottom of the screen. (See images below.)
If the photo is a plant or flower one, the next image appearing has a tiny leaf icon with Look UP - Plant.
3. Tap the green leaf in the center and links to the identity appear.
When I was finished testing the steps, as shown above, I asked Siri if there was a similar integrated plant App on Android phones. The answer, "YES!" Look for Google
Lens on your phone.
