What's new at Concord Carpenter?

The tragedy in Newton CT has brought forth soul-searching and grief around the globe. Being a parent of three children I spent the weekend praying and struggling to make sense of this tragedy - I just could not get my mind off it.  No words can truly express how heartbroken I am, the only thing I can really say is "why?"

In times of crisis, it's easy to assume that young children don't know what's going on. But one thing's for sure -- children are very sensitive to how their parents feel. They're very aware of the expressions on their parents' faces and the tone of their voices.

Children can sense when we are worried, whether they're seeing this unfold on the news or talking about it with other kids.

I find personal comfort in something that Mr. Fred Rogers once said.  He said look for the helpers.....

"When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, "Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping." To this day, especially in times of "disaster," I remember my mother's words and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers - so many caring people in this world." ~ Fred Rogers

the winner

Milwaukee Cordless Impact driver

We had a WINNER of the Milwaukee Impact driver last week.  I use the website www.randomnumber.org to pick my winners.

The winner was Tom Gallant.  Tom is a PRO, union carpenter from Boston, MA. and a newsletter subscriber AConcordCarpenter.   I met Tom last winter after one of my guys moved away.  Tom worked with me for three days to help me finish a project before a blizzard hit.

Over 300 people entered this contest - congrats Tom.   I'm glad you're a subscriber!!

Bosch Click and Go Contest Winner

Remember the $1000 Bosch Click and Go giveaway?  We have a winner - it's Bryan Peterson from Minnesota! Congrats Bryan.

Bosh click and go winner

Bryan titled his contest entry as; "Insane Traveling Shop" about how the Click & Go would make him more efficient.

"My shop is where the job is. Toting tools and supplies all over the city is a huge task. I've been using plastic bins and an assortment of tool boxes. Moving all this around on a daily basis is a daunting task. The plastic bins crack in the cold and wilt in the heat then my stuff ends up all over.

My tool boxes are all different sizes. I can't get my large job box in and out of my truck when it is fully loaded.   I need to empty it out to lift it on and off the truck then fill it up again.

I would love to have a system that is versatile, easy to get in and out of the truck, stores in a small space, and can stand up to the rigors of everyday handling in all weather. I know that the other contractors that I work with will be jealous when they see me with the Click & Go."

Feedback From A PRO Contractor and Newsletter Subscriber

Long time craftsman and carpenter Tom Whelan recently send me this facebook message;  "every time you review a tool and like it, i run out and buy it, you're costing me a fortune, just got the Milwaukee cordless cir. saw. ya killing me!"   ~ TW

Contractors like Tom rely on my tool reviews to make purchase decisions.  Very few online publications have the day to day connection with the remodeling industry as I do.   Being a seasoned contractor I have a trusted history of only promoting quality products.

Thanks Tom I appreciate you feedback and use it to motivate me!
