What's new at Concord Carpenter?

Hi Guys,

Today is my 84th newsletter.

A year or two back I surveyed you folks and the majority of you appreciated a weekly newsletter.  While I try to send a weekly newsletter out the reality is only 42 issues a year make it out.  That's not counting my "e-blasts" that let you know about special gift buying guides and product / tool giveaways.

I need your help!!!

I want to stay relevant and responsive to you as well as keep the quality of newsletter content up.  Please help me by taking my survey.

Bathroom Project:

Products and fixtures are starting to arrive at the ACC workshop for the bathrooom feeder project we are undertaking.

As many of you may have read in my article, How To Plan A Bathroom Remodel, it never makes sense to start a remodeling project until you have all the items you need to get the job done.

Kitchen Remodel

How Much Does A Remodel cost?

Many people ask me what it costs to remodel a kitchen or bathroom.   The National Kitchen and Bath Association recently conducted a survey and found that folks are spending more on their kitchens / baths then years past.

The total cost of an average kitchen in 2012 was $ 51,050 and a bath remodel project  weighed in $ 18,575.

Trendy design components people used were reported as white painted cabinets, glass backs plashes, LED lighting, touch activated faucets, Satin-Nickel finish in kitchens, ceramic / porcelain tiles, and under-mount bath sinks.

Remodeling Tip - Control the Dust

temporary dust door

Part of any professional project starts with protecting the rest of the house not being remodeled from damaged.  This includes having an effective dust control strategy.

Gotta love McGeogean Waste Systems from Cambridge, MA. They offer competitive pricing on all our services from rolloffs and compactors to regular solid waste pick-ups. They can supply containers for small projects such as bathroom renovations to larger projects where multiple containers are required and the job could last many months. The only other company that I love more is Greenbagpickup.com and I use them for smaMcGeogean waste systems

Where Do you put your Remodeling Debris?

I'm a huge fan of dumpster bags and have written many article on how they have increased my profit on small scale remodeling projects.

When I have larger projects I use a local waste contractor, McGeogean Waste Systems from Cambridge, MA.  Establishing a relationship with a local contractor means better customer service and accessibility.
