What's new at Concord Carpenter?
Hi Guys,
I'm sitting in the Milwaukee airport waiting for a plane. The Northeast storm has cause a lot of flight delays including my flight.
Yesterday was the 2013 Milwaukee Product Symposium and it did not disappoint.
Milwaukee held their event at the PABST brewery which is now the Brewhouse Inn. The brewery had been closed for many years and was completely redone into a LEED certified hotel with a Steampunk style - very cool!
Many features of the old brewery was restored and the best interior features are the the old copper brew vats on the second floor level. The tanks have long been removed but the domed tops are all visible, including their 50 plus vent pipes. The insides of two domes are visible from the lobby and appear a s copper domed ceilings.
Directly across the street from the hotel, Milwaukee rented a commercial retail space in a parking garage. This retail space was in the "build to suit" unfinished stage. It was the perfect stage to set up tools in a mock construction setting - brilliant.
And to make the event even more interesting we ate lunch on the top of the parking garage in a huge tent. I know what you're thinking - that sounds stupid but it was brilliant on their part and well done.
We enjoyed a catered lunch, great views of Milwaukee and a cool breeze! Well done Milwaukee!
Milwaukee Media Event
I posted a bunch of the event as it was happening on my Facebook page, A Concord Carpenter Comments and also started an album of my pictures. Facebook seems to have put a limit on the number of photos you can publish [I took over 350] so I will post a second album for you folks.
I filmed 9 videos of items that I felt were cool. Unfortunately two videos were not able to be published due to noise interference.
While you're there please subscribe to my channel. Anytime I publish a video you will receive an email notification and link - easy peasy!
Milwaukee FAV Picks!
Tim Albrecht, Vice President-Hand Tools at Milwaukee told us to stay tuned more hands tools are coming.
According to Tim Milwaukee is not really known for their hand tools --- until now!
Tim explained that his team did not follow the typical "lick and stick" approach but instead built their hand tools from the ground up using innovation and attention to detail. They started with 8 tools last year and built that up to 178 hand tools this year.
Milwaukee utilized user feedback, job site observation and research to come up with hand tools that perform better, solve more problems for users and are "way more cooler" according to Tim.
I have to agree with Tim - they were pretty cool. My favorites were the
