What's new at Concord Carpenter?

Hi Guys,

Today is my 90th newsletter.  One word, WOW!

To think that my website started as a joke and four years later I'd be here on my 2200 post and 90th newsletter.  The website enjoys thousands of unique visitors a day and the newsletter now has well over 4k subscribers

Did you know I started my site as a joke?

It sure did, the story goes something like this......

How AConcordCarpenter Got Started:

As a self-employed carpenter, I first used the site A Concord Carpenter as a place to post images of carpentry projects.  I really had no idea what I was doing - just putting pictures up - like Pinterest only before Pinterest!

But before long I learned about how important it is to have content so I started sprinkling in remodeling, home improvement tips and child and public safety quips, things that just about any reader could relate to.

Nobody wants to hear ranting and raving so I avoided that.  But I was never afraid to give my opinion - never have been.

The "Concord Carpenter" started commenting before I ever had my own forum.
I was drawn into the blogosphere through a friend, the Rev. Austin Fleming of Holy Family Parish in Concord whose blog is A Concord Pastor Comments

I was a regular reader and commenter on his blog.  After joking with me about my starting my own blog, Fleming worked on a dummy blog that he called A Concord Carpenter Comments. [Subtitle:  A Cop, A Cop and A Character.]

It was a total alliteration of the letter C and I loved it!
One day when looking at Fleming's profile I noticed he had a second blog named A Concord Carpenter Comments.

When I clicked on this blog title I instantly realized what he was up to [he was poking fun at me] and also noticed that the administrator edit controls were not locked.

Come on - you'd do the same thing . . .

As a joke I added all my information onto the blog profile, including me email address and a photo.  I may have even written a post or two - I forget now.

Well in the meantime Fleming discoveredwhat I had done and we had a good laugh.  When Fleming deleted the blog which prompted the computer to send me   an auto email asking if I too wanted to delete the blog.

Not understanding what was occurring I thought I had done something wrong so I checked NO.  The second I did that the blog became mine - and thats how it started.

Thanks Austin!!!!

For over a year I posted daily!  Soon after that I found Todd Fratzel online and he showed me the ropes of website content, SEO and running a website publication as a business.  We communicate daily.

Thanks Todd!

I look back and realize that this launch into the blogosphere was not without some anxiety.  Blogging was a VERY BOLD move for me.

I never expected it to last as long as it has but I really enjoy working on it.  It gives people a chance to get to know me and gives me a chance to reveal myself.

Some of my fellow carpenters don't get it, but my customers certainly do!

My site is my outlet, and its a creative one. I read more, my writing has improved, [still working on the grammar and spelling] Im learning more and it helps me promote my business.

I recently changed the name of my remodeling company and today A Concord Carpenter, LLC is a brand that encompasses a full service remodeling company in Concord, Massachusetts, the website AConcordCarpenter.com, a growing newsletter base, video and a social media presence.

Thank you everyone!

So take a ride over to AConcordCarpenter and stay awhile ~ we'd love to have y'all and hope y'all come back!!

Bathroom Project:

We are waiting on the Basco glass enclosure to arrive for us to finish this project. I plan on doing a wrap up article and video showing it completed.

I am constantly blown away at how many people have enjoyed this series.
The series produced 13 articles and 13 videos and many, many mentions here and on social media.

If you would like to read these articles simply click on the BATHROOMS tab on the top of my website page.  The first 13 articles listed are the series.

The project videos live on my my Concord Carpenter Youtube page.  Look for the title Bathroom Series.  Leave me a comment - I love comments!!!

PLEASE consider subscribing to my Youtube Channel.   I'm up to 1122 subscribers and growing!!!

Tool Giveaways:

We just finished a marathon tool giving bonanza where we gave away at least 6 different tool manufacturers tools.

Today we awarded 3 Rockwell Sonocrafters and 3 WORX WG160 [3 in1 tool]  away to some lucky dudes!

 Tool Reviews:

This week there are a couple of great reviews on my site AConcordCarpenter.  Check them out if you get the chance!

You know what when you're there look at the article called "Father's Day Gift Guide."  I wrote this as a gift buying guide for folks looking to get their FAV man a cool tool but just because its not Father's Day doesn't mean its not a Kick Ass list of cool tools to buy for yourself or as a gift!

Protective Footwear

When the warmer weather comes I always look for a comfortable to wear a low rise work shoe.

The Keen Flint Low Work Shoe with its waterproof nubuck leather upper looks more like a hiking show than a work shoe .   When I took it out of the box and put them on, I immediately noticed the weight which I later learned was 21.8 ounces.

Wearing these shoes was like wearing a pair of heavy sneakers - they were comfortable and more importantly they still felt comfortable after a long day on the job site.

Kershaw Brawler
We highly recommend the Kershaw Brawler 1990X for those who enjoy having a durable and dependable everyday carry knife (EDC) with them at all times.
The Brawler's size is perfect for carrying in a pocket and the blade has stood up to everything I have thrown at it.

Electric Radiant Heat

Electric radiant heat and its benefits are one of the best alternatives to  inconsistent and inefficient conventional bathroom heat sources.

On a recent project it was not even a question of us not installing a WarmlyYours electric radiant heat system.   The only question was which product did we want to showcase?

Choosing A Pergola

Whether its for bringing friends together for a cookout, or creating a sanctuary for relaxing with a loved one, the architectural pergola truly creates the perfect backyard look.

The pergola provides a central gathering place for parties and events, and it's an elegant addition to any pool, fire pit, or outdoor kitchen.
