Last Wednesday Phil and I went to the Stanley Black and Decker Media event which also featured DEWALT, Bostitch and Porter-Cable tools.

I just recently stopped salivating over all of the cool new tools and new products from DEWALT, Bostitch and Porter-Cable.

With over 450 new releases this year you can imagine how excited we were to be part of it.

Probably the coolest new stuff for me was the multi-tool, sexy storage solutions, new lasers, I-Beam levels super quiet trim compressors and the portable table saws.

The job site radio was also pretty cool too but we've seen that already.

The Site-Pro guarding system is a huge advancement toward table saw safety and allows for tool-free adjustments of the guarding components and even allows thin rips without having to remove the guard.

No need for a Saw Stop now!

What's New At DEWALT?

DEWALT kicked ass this year!  They launched three new 10" Job Site Table Saws with their Site-ProTM Modular Guarding System and all On-Board Storage.

What's Bostitch Up To?

Bostitch is introducing two cordless drivers and a basic line of corded power tools with aggressive price points to include:  circular saw, reciprocating saw, jig saw, drill, hammer drill, and grinder.

It is clear to us that Bostitch is going after the mid-range market of power tools.

More information to follow when these Bostitch tools are launched Mid-September

Concord Carpenter's Weekly Photo

Most contractors that use SDS Max and Spline drill bits all share the same frustration of bit and shank breakage.  We all want a durable, fast cutting and longer lasting bit. Right?

This is a photo of DEWALTs new 2X SDS bit with more carbide on the cutting edge.   This bit is a one piece carbide in an X shape with 50% more carbide  and more surface area for cutting which also translates into less vibration.

DEWALT claims these bits last 2X longer than their competitions bits

Did You Know . . .

The #1 profession hardest to fill is the Skilled Trades

High-schools have nearly eliminated trades education   from their curriculum

Only 6% of high school students consider a career in the trades

For every THREE tradesmen who retire, only ONE person has the skills to fill their work boots

By 2030, 79 million tradesmen will retire and only 41 million new workers will replace them.

Engaging Our Youth In the Trades!

The expectation that EVERYONE in each subsequent future generation should go to college is just silly. Equally as silly is the idea that all laborers or blue collar workers are not intelligent or successful. Read More
