What's new at Concord CarpenterHi Guys,
Many of you may remember our carpenter Josh. Well this Friday Josh graduated from the Lowell Police Academy and will be starting a new career as a police officer for Salem State College.
Josh is going to be assigned to the night shift and told us that he would like to come work with us a few days after he finished his street training. I hope so, we had a lot of fun working together as you can see from the posed picture above.
Unfortunately I was not able to attend Josh's graduation and knowing that he reads this newsletter this is what I would have said to Josh:
"Josh, you are about to embark on an exciting and noble career. Done
properly, it can be one of the greatest job in the world.
I ask you to pursue your career with vigor and enthusiasm! Resist the temptation to become judgmental of others. Many people make bad decisions, but it will not help you or them to
assess blame. Remember that your law enforcement mission will never be
compromised because you treated someone with dignity and respect.
Maintain a positive outlook. As your career progresses I can tell
you that one of the biggest challenges you will face will be in your own
mind = your attitude. It will become easy to feel unappreciated or
slighted. You'll see this in other officers who have become cynical and
disillusioned.
Avoid the gossip, the complaining and pointing blaming - just be as good as you can be - no one can make you cynical but yourself - it's your choice to stay positive.
Remember to make good decisions, be safe and always do the right thing!!"
STAFDA - What's that?
This Monday Phil and I flew out to Las Vegas to attend the STAFDA Trade Show; specifically to attend the Diablo media event.
It's funny everyone always asks, "What's STAFDA?" No its not an infection!
STAFDA stands for Specialty Tools and Fasteners Distributors Association. It is a great venue to spot new
products as well as catch up with PR and Marketing folks..
STAFDA is not typically the show that major brands showcase new tools but DIABLO and Makita surprised us with their new releases.
Probably the biggest tool news at STAFDA was that Makita has new advances in tools and battery technology from Makita.
Makita really surprised us with a completely newly designed circular
saw. The XSH01 utilizes two 18 volt, 3.0 Ah batteries to obtain the
equivalent of 36 volts.Makita now has 70 plus tools all on one 18 volt battery platform. That's a lot of solutions to problems!
One of my favorite finds at STAFDA was from ROLAIR. They have a trim compressor that operates at 60 decibels.
This little compressor fills from empty in 45 seconds, has a fast recover and allows a framer or roof nailer to be moderately operated. I was SO impressed with how quiet this little thing was!!

FEIN MultiMaster FM 250Q Review
As a renovation contractor I've been using the FEIN MultiMAster
FMM250Q on the job-site for at least eight years. I remember seeing it
on jobs even before that but it was mostly being used for intricate
sanding applications, not cutting.
In the last ten years it seems that the MultiMAster has enjoyed the
role as the trailblazer in the world of multi-tools. FEIN and now other
brands have taken off and for good reason.
The FEIN has basically remained unchanged in the past few years. They
still enjoy the reputation of being at the top of the heap.
