Jigsaw and Multi Tool Head-2-Head
On April 12th we will be conducting our 3rd Head to Head testing or major brand Jigsaws [corded] and also joint testing Multi-tools. [cordless] with ToolBoxBuzz. [TBB]
If you follow us on Facebook and Twitter we will be posting live pictures of the testing and the results usually take a week or two to publish. See below for our earlier Head to Heads:
Cool SDS MAX Hammer Testing Platforms
We have also secured 10" concrete bridge decks [with rebar] for our April 27th testing of SDS Max Hammer Drills and dust extractors. The testing will take place in Newport, NH with our friend Todd Fratzel from TBB.
Concrete Accessory Testing Anyone?
This may be a great opportunity to do a head to head on concrete drilling and chipping accessories - any takers?
Pool House Project Update:
The photos above and below are from the pool house project we are working on. Just a few punch list items to complete now.
The owner of the pool house is also a talented architect with an incredible eye for detail. We have had a great time working with him and his plans. No design mistakes or revisions here folks - that's impressive!
Pantry cabinet with rough sawn doors
Working with rough sawn wood was also different and fun. We were so used to working with decorative trim with miters and super tight joints, the "imperfections" of rough sawn" was refreshing!
Look for some How-to articles like "using large Tapcon fasteners in remodeling" and "Building rough sawn doors" on the ACC website.

MAKITA Cordless Circular Saw Giveaway
Cutting the cord is a goal for the engineers and Product Managers at
MAKITA and to show the readers of Concord Carpenter their appreciation
they are offering one of my newsletter Subscribers a chance to win their NEW 36 volt circular saw.
Build America Update
So far three tool manufacturers have volunteered to help us outfit and train the Build America Team [BAM Team] with tools.
The ACC crew has just started writing a training and tool safety guide to help prepare the BAM Team. If you have a good tool teaching / safety training source we can use please reply to this email.
Carpenter's Tip
Hand screw clamps act as an extra hand in the workshop or job
site. They are excellent for holding materials steady while planing,
cutting and repair work. TIP: When in the field or away from your work bench. Use a hand screw as a material hold down or temporary vise. One clamp holds the work and another secures the first hand screw to the work bench or table.
I also like this method as a stop for my miter saw for repetitive cuts and to hold secure small pieces or metal on the drill
press table.
This method is as much about convenience as it is safety.
Having a work piece or piece of metal spinning around can be dangerous
and can be avoided by properly clamping. READ MORE
