Water Repelling Treatment For Outdoor Fabric

Patio and pool umbrellas are the quintessential protection from the suns harmful UV rays but usually offer limited protection from the rain.

There has been many a sun shower where my patio umbrella has offered limited protection only to become saturated and start dripping onto out food, magazines or heads!

The folks at Rust-Oleum recently came out with NeverWet Outdoor Fabric to keep outdoor fabrics dry and clean.

SDS-Plus Rotary Hammer Drill Bit Comparison - Bosch vs DEWALT

Bosch offered us a chance to compare one of the most popular concrete accessories used for drop in anchors and wedge anchors most prominently used by mechanical contractors, plumbers, and electricians.

So we jumped at the opportunity to test two leading companies 3/8" Concrete SDS-Plus Drill Bits for both speed and endurance.

Carpenter's Tip

When framing walls or other projects there is no need for crazy math formulas.  On small framing projects I still use the "stick method" for calculating materials.

The stick method works every time, no matter how many doors, windows or corners your walls have:

  1. One stud per linear foot of wall.
  2. One joist per linear foot of length of building.  [perpendicular to the span direction]
  3. Five linear feet of plate material (bottoms, tops and ties) per linear foot of wall. It'll look like too much lumber when it arrives, but you'll need the extra stuff for corners, window and door frames, blocking and braces.
  4. Set aside the split or crooked material for short pieces and blocking.
