Question 1
What has been your biggest challenge in business and how did you overcome it?
I created face2faceidentity when I realized that building businesses online has
changed the way we do business. The focus of product = sale has shifted to
sharing information = building a relationship. The sale will come later.
I also noticed when I browsed online, there was one thing that irked me,
long screeds of text. I don't have time for that. But when I could click on a
video and have someone connect with me talking directly from the screen, I
was engaged.
Because I started a business around a trend that's fairly new, one of my biggest
challenges has been finding ways to let people know I'm here, when they're not
actually searching for me.
Question 2
If you had to start your business again from scratch, what would you do differently?
I've been building this business for over a year and if I was to start from scratch,
the first thing I would do is join groups and seek out groups just like this one. I'd also
get an assistant. It took me over a year of working 7 days a week, before I finally
admitted I was never going to be able to get it all done myself.
The result of having my fabulous assistant, apart from getting more work done,
is that there's more energy around what I'm doing and, best of all, I get a bit of
life back.
Question 3
Who do you admire and why?
Stumbling across, and searching for, the right kind of information, I am amazed
at the amount of remarkable women who have positioned themselves so well
online. I have so much admiration for their courage and generosity.
Some I've watched grow their business from the seed of an idea into something
much larger. Some I've watched change direction and focus, to answer the
needs of their customers. And always they are there, unstoppable and moving
mountains. God, I feel blessed to be born a woman.
Question 4
If takes a lot of determination and dedication to succeed in
business. What keeps you motivated?
To find myself doing something I'm passionate about is a blessing in itself.
Recently, I gave some thought to what I love doing most. My own work as a
voiceover artist tops the list. It's amazing!
Next, I love coaching people. Coaching is an intimate experience, based on trust.
It has to be, because you're sometimes asking people to expose their truth. This
is an exciting and incredibly satisfying way to work.
Question 5
What are your 3 biggest success tips?
I've worked all my adult life in my own business and I know this for a fact.
Success doesn't happen overnight. It's the prize for hard work. In my 30+ years
running my acting/voiceover business, I've learned these things:
-
Only do what you're passionate about! I was involved in an online business a few years ago, that I had no real passion
for. It failed but taught me that expensive and painful lesson.
- Trust your intuition! There will always be someone out there who will tell you that you can't do
something. Always trust your gut. If you screw it up, learn from the experience.
- Create collaborative relationships! You don't need a partner. But don't do it alone. Look for people you admire, who
you can collaborate with. If it doesn't last, then it's just a smile-and-a-handshake
farewell, with little pain.
