Just in case you missed this amongst all the celebrations yesterday!
Wishing you a very happy new year!
I hope you have had a good break at some point over the festive season. It's really important to stop doing things for a while, even if they shout at you from your to do list.

The other day I came  across a fascinating article in the paper, with a Scandinavian twist. You've heard me talk about HYGGE, but what about ROMJUL? This is a Norwegian word for the period between Christmas and New Year when it could feel like a kind of limbo; you 're not sure what day it is, half the world is still stopped and the weather's probably awful too. Well fear not - just throw yourself into ROMJUL and relax, now that you know there's a name for it.
More about the Personal Life Analysis
We've been looking at the questions I ask in my free Personal Life Analysis, where you rate your satisfaction with important areas of your life.
It then sends you a nice full colour chart pinpointing the areas you can focus on to make the most difference.

Last time we looked at your friendships and relationships, and this time we're looking at your satisfaction with your work.
For most of us, being at work occupies a big percentage of our time for years of our lives. So it makes sense to get it right as far as we can.

I often hear from people who are unhappy with their work and want to change their job. I can help with that, of course; but sometimes you need to start further back. It might not be the job itself that is the problem. There may be fairly small changes, in other parts of your life, that can be made to make it much better for you. This is why the whole Personal Analysis, not just bits of it, is so important.
Still, it may turn out that you really do want to change jobs.

So at this time of year, when many of us do start to think about change, here are a few free resources and links to get you thinking about this. In the attachment are some questions about where you are now and how that could be improved. Then there are any number of free self assessment tools on the internet about your skills and strengths; here's just one that I like https://www.123test.com/work-values-test/, focussing on the values that you need to have met at work. Finally, on the Government website there are lots of resources to help you further.
If you are still tempted to be doing too much....
...take a look at this from Dr Sarah Mackay in Australia! It's about multi tasking, which really does not work, and this article shows you why.

So if you do find yourself doing too much, at least you can think about not doing it all at once!
What's going on at This Coaching Business
If you need to find a belated Christmas present you may like to consider the gift of a coaching session to a friend. Let me know if you are interested in this and I'll give you all the details.

I am pretty booked up already for January and only have about three spaces left. However I do have a couple of executive coaching sessions available for senior managers and entrepreneurs, especially in health and social care. Of course this often overlaps with personal coaching as we are all people first, even if we do have super important jobs.

If you're wondering about what coaching involves and whether to undertake it yourself, you can book a short free no obligation call with me here

Let me know if there is anything I can assist you with, and I'll be in touch again soon.
All best wishes,

Barbara
