Here's a heads up about the type of blog posts, podcasts, and resources you'll see on the website in the month of
April.
Nursing Research is the theme for the blog and other resources this month.
I love teaching nursing research
because I know how important it is that nurses, who want to be evidence-based practitioners, have a basic understanding of the research process. You will have an easier time critiquing research studies when you recognize the steps nurse scientists and nurse researchers go through to design a research study -- quantitative or qualitative. I'm planning posts that will help you understand some of those
more difficult concepts.
My Quick Tip for You This Month: Read the methods section of a research study first!
I've made this comment in previous posts about evidence-based practice (EBP). Remember that the stronger
the research methods, the more confidence you can have in the results. If you are reading the methods section and you have a bunch of questions about how well the researchers conducted the study -- STOP! Just stop reading! Go find a better study.
Honestly,
if the research methods are suspect, it doesn't matter how exciting the results are -- you can't believe the results!
