I hope everyone is well during these unprecedented times. Everyone is affected, from coaches to athletes to parents. Track seasons postponed, or even cancelled. Training disrupted with no access to proper facilities or therapists (yes, that is me training all alone on a golf course, with the English Channel in the background!)
The worse part is the uncertainty. How are we going to resume? Do I shake hands or man-hug my competitor after a race? Are we supposed to be 2 meters apart in the Call room?
Remember Isaac Makwala being barred from competing in the 400m final after showing symptoms for norovirus at the 2017 London World Championships? Will testing of athletes become the "new normal"?
Luckily, we have the Internet, and we have been blessed with fantastic content in all formats in the past month: live video, webinars, podcasts, and articles. I'll share what I'm up to (though this is only a partial list!):
Video chat & livestream
- 2020 NACACTFCA Virtual Congress (Live Thursday to this Saturday). This was meant to be in Puerto Rico. Thanks to Richie Mercado for setting this up. (The PDF file contains links to Zoom). Archived slide decks and videos are on the Facebook Page.
- ALTIS Live, every Thursday at 1:00 Phoenix AZ time (no daylight savings!).
- Derek Hansen's ZoomPOP. Every weekend, various times. Aimed more for Coaches, Therapists, and Health Practitioners.
Podcasts
Articles (focus on Home Training)
If you have any to share, please email at
[email protected], as I have left out many more!
As well, if you want to invite me to your panel, I'd love to participate, time zone forgiving.
Stay safe, everyone!
