At least track is back!
But it's not the same format as we're used to.
The 2020 Oslo Diamond League was held yesterday. Odd distances (300mH, 600m, 1000m, 2000m), virtual time trials, alternate sprint lanes to keep 2m apart, and of course, cardboard cut-outs to replace real fans.
33.79 (a world best) is an impressive time to run alone for 300m... with 7 hurdles along the way!
Whether you liked it (or not), let's keep the spirit alive, train with focus, and hope we'll all be competing again very soon!
3 reasons why you're injured
Here are 3 primary reasons why an athlete gets injured:
- when there is an imbalance
- when the athlete is tired (i.e. over training)
- when the mind wants to do something the body does NOT want to do
That being said, for #1 above, there was a great session with Dan Pfaff this week on the use of Kinograms, presented by Athletics Northern Ireland. By the end of the session, you were able to learn how to read or view "asymmetry", which could lead to imbalances and compensation down the road.
If you missed it, below is the link to the presentation. Please keep this video within your coaches & athletes (i.e. don't make this public).
Quote of the Day:
“I came to the conclusion that there is an existential moment in your life when you must decide to speak for yourself; nobody else can speak for you.” – Martin Luther King Jr.
Stay safe, everyone!
