"Nicole has been more than
amazing, helping me with Sarah and getting us back into 'happy family' as opposed to 'exhausted, when will this end?!' family. [A] happy baby is the most important thing, and I think seeing her as happy as she is in that picture really helps hit home how amazing you guys are; that even during sleep coaching the baby is
happy."

Q: Our son is 16 months (14 months corrected). He was sleeping through the night consistently for months now. Our typical routine went mostly easily like this: bed for 730 & he could go down drowsy & fall asleep on his own, sleep through until approximately
530/6am. For the last 2 weeks he is still going down fine, but waking anywhere from 10pm-230pm and will only go back to sleep with us. We can let him cry, comfort him without touch etc and none works, but the second he gets picked up, he is calmed & practically snoring in seconds. But as soon as he is placed back in crib it is full blown crying again. This can repeat and repeat until we give up and bring him to bed so we can all get some rest, to which he sleeps no problem. How do
we break this habit? -Jennifer
A: Given he's sleeping just 10 to 10 1/2 hours at night, I assume he is still taking two naps, so the recent night-waking could be related to the daytime schedule. It might be time to transition to one nap or take a look at his schedule to determine if he is having some insomnia. If he isn't staying awake for long periods, though, it may
simply be a new habit which usually means sleep training (again). Babies and toddlers go through many changes and old habits can come back periodically. Re-training is typical for some personality types and as long as it's an option to sleep in your bed, he may not see a reason to change it. :) Good luck, Jennifer!

Baby Ear Infections and Sleep
When your baby is not sleeping, one of the most difficult things to face is whether or not your baby is in pain or if something else is wrong. There are so many things that could go wrong and many parents aren’t sure whether they should start sleep training or not. Could it be an ear infection? And how does that impact your baby’s sleep?
Why Downtime In The Crib MIGHT Be Bad For Sleep
Imagine no crying when you put your baby to sleep. Your baby happily
plays in the crib instead. Or, your toddler happily chats in his bed for an hour every night before going to sleep. You're lucky, right? Wrong.

Hello,
You may or may not have thought about your baby or toddler playing team sports, yet, but my younger son looooves soccer! And, he's pretty good at it. So, a couple of years ago we decided to move him to club
soccer, which was met with some trepidation on his part. Club soccer is basically more competitive than recreational soccer where we live and a bit more intense. So, unfortunately, when he first started he HATED it! He said that he'd never play again. Yikes! What did we do?! Did we make a mistake? Although I was worried inside that I'd made a mistake, I kept reassuring him that he'd get used to it; if he didn't like it at the end of the year he could go back to rec; and he'd make friends (he's
shy and didn't know anyone really). Fast forward about 4 weeks later after he played a few games and got to know some of the teammates, he tells me "Mommy, you were right. I do like club soccer better." PHEW!!
I tell you this because we all have those moments where we wonder if we are doing the right thing for our children. And, at first, they might even hate it. But, it doesn't mean we are wrong and it doesn't mean they will hate it forever. Maybe they will
and maybe they won't, but we won't know until we give them the opportunity to TRY. And, just like with sleep coaching, your baby might not want to change anything, he might even hate sleeping independently at first, but then one day he may surprise you and be one of the BEST sleepers in the family! :)
I hope reading through our weekly newsletter has helped you realize that you are not alone, and that there is hope, and a light at the end of the tunnel. Forward this to a friend, so they know they're not alone, either!
Until next week,
