Sleeping Child
- of the week -
"I have been so impressed with absolutely every aspect of your company, from the website to the customer service to the individual sleep coaching. I just finished two 2-week unlimited email packages and it has absolutely changed my life. My 14-month old daughter is now going to sleep most of the time
for naps and nighttime without any fuss at all, she is sleeping through the night (truly! 10-12 hours!) whereas just a month ago she was still waking 2-5 times a night. And I finally have hope that the future doesn't have to involve complete sleep deprivation and stress surrounding my daughter's sleep. I also feel well prepared and informed for the inevitable bumps and transitions that are to come. Also, very importantly, I felt respected, emotionally encouraged and 'heard' by the customer
service reps and by my sleep consultant. That kind of treatment is priceless."

Q: Hello! We have a 9 month old who used to have terrible sleep issues who wakes up pretty early most days, around 5/5:30AM. And we want to get rid of a second night waking around 4AM. We think she's waking up because she's hungry. Either that or she poops and
that wakes her up. What do you recommend parents do to get down to 1 nighttime feeding? And can that help our baby "sleep in" until 6:30/7? Thanks so much, Mike (& Kate)
A: Hi Mike and Kate! We get this question a lot around this time of year with the time changing recently. Early waking is a common issue. We'd need a bit more specific info to answer clearly, but there is a difference between waking early and needing more sleep versus getting enough sleep but sleeping at the "wrong" times. We have 5 tips to help here free on the blog: https://www.babysleepsite.com/how-we-sleep/baby-waking-too-early/ And, if you need help with
her schedule, we're happy to help directly! As for night-weaning down to one feeding, at this age that should be possible, but the daytime schedule will be a factor. You might want to take our night-weaning quiz here to make sure she's ready: https://www.babysleepsite.com/night-weaning-2/night-weaning-quiz/
Good luck!

Hello,
This is a big week for me...it's my birthday! :-) I was reflecting on a past year's birthday when my son was younger - I was awoken at 4 a.m. by my youngest son yelling for me (which was now rare, thankfully). I went to his room, and when I got there, he said to me, "My dream hurt me. That's the only way I know to say it." He was still half-asleep, so I rubbed his back for about 15 seconds, and he went right back to sleep. Unfortunately, I couldn't get back to sleep at all! Not a great birthday gift. ;-)
This has always been the case for me - when I get woken in the middle of the night, it's REALLY hard for me to fall back to sleep. It takes hours (if it happens at all!). This is one reason why my oldest son's constant nighttime waking when he was a baby just wore me out - it would take me ages to fall back to sleep once he was down again. I used to dread those night wakings so much. I know many of you can relate to this, and that you, too, dread night waking because it takes you so long to get
back to sleep. If I'm describing you, know that you aren't alone - I've been there! And remember, too, that you don't have to suffer through chronic exhaustion...we're always here to help. :)
I hope reading through our weekly newsletter has helped you realize that you are not alone, and that there is hope, and a light at the end of the tunnel. Forward this to a friend, so they know they're not alone, either!
Until next week,
