Sleeping Child
- of the week -
"Thank you so much for coaching us
through sleep coaching! We are so proud of how Maceo picked up his self-soothing skills and we still marvel at his ability to go to sleep on his own. Starting where we did, when every nap was a screamfest and it would take him an hour to fall asleep at bedtime, we can really see how far we've come thanks to babysleepsite. We'll come back if we need to, but in the meantime, we're wishing you the best. It's been a pleasure working with
you!"

Q: Hi, my 4 week old is now sleeping longer at night and less in the day but I just want to know should we wake her so she can eat at night or let her sleep until she wakes up for a feeding? During the day she eats 3-4 ounces every 3-4
hours of formula, She is past her birth weight as well.
Â
A: Hi Destiny, thank you for visiting The Baby Sleep Site®! Usually, we do recommend waking baby to eat during the day, but not at night at this age, if she was born on time and is generally healthy. However, you should check in with her pediatrician, as it can depend on her growth curve and we definitely
want to make sure she's getting enough to eat. Hope this helps, and good luck!

Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child: Our Review
Â
When you’re talking about baby sleep experts, the name Dr. Marc Weissbluth is pretty legendary. It’s right up there with Dr. Richard Ferber, Elizabeth Pantley, and Nicole Johnson (couldn’t leave myself out, now could I? ). And it’s no wonder; Weissbluth’s book, Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child is considered one of the ‘baby sleep bibles’ by the many people who’ve read it over the years. But is this book really one of the definitive works on baby and toddler sleep? Is it worth buying and reading cover-to-cover?

Hello,
Â
I hope your time change has gone smoothly so far! By now, those of you who changed the clocks a few weeks ago may be adjusted, while those of you who just changed the clocks this past weekend probably have more adjusting to do. When my boys were younger, I would put them to bed a little later, but that was always a bit risky, because I knew my oldest son (the
inspiration behind The Baby Sleep Site®) would often wake up earlier the next day when he went to bed too late the night before. There were time change days when he would wake up way too early (in the 5 a.m. hour - yikes!) and I had him stay in bed until 6:45. He would go back to sleep for a short 15-20 minutes, which was enough to help with the time change adjustment.
Â
Here's what I want to emphasize, though - the time change is much less painful in our house now than it used to be, simply because my boys are older. But when they were babies and toddlers? Ouch! It was days and days of wacky sleep and super-early mornings. Of course, nothing like The Baby Sleep Site® existed back then; if it had, I would have gotten help for those
early days and weeks after the time change! And I hope you will, too - if the time change has thrown you for a loop, please remember that we're here for you. We helped tons of families prepare for the time change last month, and we're already working on helping a number of families recover...and there's room for you, too! We would love to help you reclaim your normal sleep schedule and get your little one back on track. Remember, you don't have to do this alone - grab a consultation package today, and let us help!
Â
I hope reading through our weekly newsletter has helped you realize that you are not alone, and that there is hope, and a light at the end of the tunnel. Forward this to a friend, so they know they're not alone, either!
Until next week,
