"My husband and I both work full time, and by 4 months our baby was still waking every hour or two at night to eat and then be rocked back to sleep. I'm not comfortable with CIO methods, but we needed a change! I purchased the
[Express Sleep] Plan on a Friday before a long weekend and by the following week she was going right down after her new bedtime routine, sleeping 5-6 hours straight, and going right back down after a single quick night feed. Last night she slept nine hours straight! We're working on naps now, but the three of us are much happier these
days!"

Q: Hi I have a 2 year old boy he never slept during the night he wakes w[h]ining 5 to 6 times a night still he's very active little boy during the day he [does] not take naps during day.
A: I'm sorry to hear your 2-year-old is not sleeping through the night and further proof that children don't outgrow their sleep issues anytime soon. Being woken up several times a night for two years is exhausting I'm sure! Most toddlers will nap until they are 3-4 years old, but some drop the nap sooner.
You may want to try to reinstitute the nap but, at minimum, without a nap, you should make sure his bedtime is sufficiently early to make it easier for him to get through his sleep cycle transitions. What you "do" when he wakes up 5-6 times a night may be reinforcing waking in the first place. Help him try to get through his sleep cycles more independently. Our philosophy is to boost his self-confidence he CAN do it and the sleep will follow. We'd be happy to help if you need some direction.
Good luck!

Is it Okay for Newborns to Be Sleeping on Their Sides?
To reduce the risk of SIDS, babies should be placed on their backs to
sleep, unless otherwise advised by your baby’s doctor. However, what if
your baby rolls to his side to sleep? Is it okay for newborns to be
sleeping on their side?
Baby Not Sleeping? You Might Be Surprised to Learn Why!
If you've been following The Baby Sleep Site® for a while, or whether you have recently discovered our sleepy little village, you have probably learned that overtired babies have a hard time sleeping, and sleep associations cause babies to wake up
while sleeping. Yes, those are two big ones that we are sure not to miss. But there are other factors affecting a baby and toddler's sleep that might not be as obvious. Still trying to figure out your little one's sleep issues?
Ultimate Guide to Your 4 Month Old Baby
Congratulations! You’ve made it through the newborn days and you now have a 4-month old. But, they can also go through some big changes that impact how they interact with you, how they sleep, how they poop, their
feeding schedule and so much more! Read on to learn more about your 4-month old baby.

Hello there!
I remember going in to help in my son's Math class when he was in second grade and I was so thankful there wasn't a "new" way to find common denominators. You see, ways of teaching Math have changed over the years, and as good as I think I may be in Math, I admit I've had to Google and watch YouTube videos about "regrouping" and "doubles plus one." If you don't know
what I'm talking about, one day you might find yourself Googling, too!
It makes me think about how a lot of things change over the years. When I started having my babies over a decade ago, I didn't have anything like The Baby Sleep Site®. And, when our parents had us, there weren't a lot of sleep consultants or resources providing help with sleep. It just wasn't something you did as a norm. But, how quickly the "new" way becomes the
norm, both with sleep and with math! We need new ways to tap into the "village" we once had as a people, and I'm happy you've welcomed us as a part of your village. I work with some families who can't imagine not having a consultant to answer their questions via email, just like my sons can't imagine not "regrouping" during math class.
I say all of this to share that I know how "weird" it might seem to email a person you've never met or to pay someone for help with something like sleep. But, it's more "normal" than you think in this day and age (thankfully!). It is wonderful to live in a time in which you can reach out over the internet or the phone to get sleep help from a pro - and I hope you'll
take full advantage of that modern convenience if you are struggling with sleep!
I hope reading through our weekly newsletter has helped you realize that you are not alone, and that there is hope, and a light at the end of the tunnel. Forward this to a friend, so they know they're not alone, either!
Until next week,
