Sleeping Child
- of the week -
"I waited to write you because it seemed too good to be true, but as miraculous as it seems, John is now putting himself to sleep and sleeping through the night!
And he goes down easily for at least one nap a day, too!
I took your wise advice and worked the plan, and the plan worked! Thank you for the extra encouragement, company and articles. Having the confidence to give the gentle method an honest go, the perspective that we were indeed making progress, and the go-ahead to proceed with nights made all the difference. What a relief!
I'm still basking in this new reality. Wow. I'm already spreading the good news about you!
So, so grateful,"

Q: Hello, My little girl is 14 months old. She wakes up quite often in the night, I would say at least 7 or 8 times. I co-sleep with her. Whenever she wakes up, I pat her or offer her water in a milk bottle and she goes back to sleep. I am not sure why she wakes up
quite often. Thanks in advance, Jyothi
A: Hi Jyothi! Waking up 7-8 times a night for 14 months old is definitely excessive. One thing people don't always understand is the waking between sleep cycles is actually normal, but most of us will simply re-position ourselves and go right back to sleep. So, your daughter may simply be doing that and may not 'need' anything. Try to
stop patting her each and every time. And, try to model sleep and see if she can settle right back to sleep without your help even though you are laying right next to her (assuming you'd like to continue co-sleeping). Intermittent reinforcement is the likely cause of the continued waking, so the less you 'do' the less she will 'need'. Good luck!

5 Tips To Getting Your Baby to Nap in the Car
All babies sleep in the car! At least, that's what one of our sleep consultants, Bonnie, was told as a new mom. Problem was, her infant daughter didn't get the memo! She wasn't lulled to peaceful dreamland by the soft hum of Bonnie's '08 Toyota. Instead, she'd stay awake...
for hours. And cry. But, after countless attempts and trial and error, Bonnie's daughter did learn to take a nap in the car and consider it an adventure! Read Bonnie's tips today!

How was your weekend? If you're here in the U.S. and observe it, I hope you have a fantastic Thanksgiving full of good times and good food. I know I will! Gotta love a long holiday weekend. :) One thing that always makes my
Thanksgivings especially sweet each year is getting lovely thank you notes in my inbox from former clients. I remember one client in particular; she had purchased several unlimited email packages as she needed a lot of support, so I had the chance to work with her for a while, and it was really fun getting to know her family. So, I felt so touched when I saw her note to me that Thanksgiving Day.
Here's what she had to say: "Just a quick note to wish you and your family a very happy Thanksgiving! I am sure thousands and thousands of moms around the U.S. are thanking you today for all you've done for them. :) I know this mom is!”
I know many of you may feel thankful to The Baby Sleep Site® for the help we've provided to you and your family, but, let me tell you, my team is equally thankful for YOU. Your welcoming us into your family to help you means the world over to us!
I hope reading through our weekly newsletter has helped you realize that you are not alone, and that there is hope, and a light at the end of the tunnel. Forward this to a friend, so they know they're not alone, either!
Until next week,
