Sleeping Child

"If you've looked outside recently, you may have noticed that pigs were flying. And do you know why? If you guessed that Simone is taking naps in her crib now, you'd be right!!!
Holy moly. I can't even BELIEVE it!! Game changer!
Â
Just wanted to say thank you and send some good news your way!"
Â
...and a month later, Becky sent us another update:
"Simone is now consistently taking naps that are typically 1 hour and 20 minutes long (in her crib)! The reason that is so important is because I was having to drive her around for ALL her naps before (& having to drag my 3 year old along on these epic car rides). It was insane and we were all miserable.
Â
I wish I had known about The Baby Sleep Site® when my first child was a baby. Life would have been SO much better. As far as I'm concerned, it's the BEST use of our money. Ever.
Â
Our sleep coach, Bonnie, has earned her angel wings; I seriously wish I could hug her!"

Q: Hi there, I have a 9.5 month old girl that doesn't sleep through the night. It's exhausting. She is up 2-10 times a night. I've tried
multiple different strategies, but nothing is working and now I think she's gotten into a bad habit to get up every 3-4 hours. I'm against the "cry it out" method so i was hoping you had any other ideas. Right now she goes to bed around 7 & 8pm. She naps at 10am & 3pm, both for about 2 hours. We have a bedtime routine and have been doing this for a few months now. What can I do to teach her to sleep longer?! Thank you! Amy
Â
A: Oh Amy, that certainly sounds very exhausting and you aren't alone! Right off the bat, 4 hours of daytime sleep could be too much and that's leading to more night-waking than necessary. Some babies need that much sleep, but considering she's nearly 10 months old, it could be an issue. Besides that and
without knowing more details, the most common reason for frequent night-waking that lasts longer than a few days is typically related to HOW you are getting her BACK to sleep each time she wakes. That is likely a sleep association that needs to be changed. If you need help identifying why she's waking and how to fix it, we'd love to help! A 15-minute evaluation call may be a good first step (see below). Hang in there!

When Do Babies Sleep Through The Night?
Â
Sleeping through the night can feel like such an elusive goal. When will your baby sleep through the night? How can you work towards sleeping through the night in a gentle, healthy way that works for your child?
How To Handle Late-Night Holiday Fun
Â
Holiday merriment is here! Have you ever found yourself simultaneously blessing and cursing the holiday plans you've made? They tend to add up to a lot of late nights. So what do you do? Do you enjoy a flurry of holiday activities, and end up with
a grumpy and over-tired little one? Or do you prioritize bedtime and miss out on the action?
6 Words Every Tired Mom Needs To Hear
Â
Hey, tired mama...yes, you, reading this newsletter...I have a message for you. I know how overwhelmed and exhausted you are. I know that you love your little one so much it hurts, but that you feel like you are drowning in exhaustion. I know that
you feel desperate, and wonder if you've done something "wrong" and "ruined" your child's sleep...after all, your friends all have sleeping babies, right? For you, mama, I have six words.
|
Hello,
Â
I hope you are having a wonderful holiday season so far! I certainly hope your kiddos will let you sleep in just a little on Christmas morning ;). A few years ago was the first time we had to worry about early-rising on Christmas. When my boys were younger, they really didn't "know" better and would just sleep like normal on Christmas morning, but now that they're
bigger, they're up SO early! It's worth it, though...so fun to see their faces when they open their gifts. Just writing about it is getting me excited for next week!
Â
Of course, after the early start, the house full of family, and a very long day, I know they will be exhausted by dinnertime, making an early bedtime very easy. I do have one "trick" to this, though, for days like this. As evening approaches, I have them put on PJs and brush teeth well before bedtime...that way, if there are any meltdowns, I can skip ahead and put
them right to bed without much negotiation or hullabaloo. Much easier! If you find yourself needing to use these kinds of tricks to get your little one down for bed early Tuesday night, know you are not alone! :)
Â
I hope reading through our weekly newsletter has helped you realize that you are not alone, and that there is hope, and a light at the end of the tunnel. Forward this to a friend, so they know they're not alone, either!
Until next week,
