Welcome to a new issue of Tarot Tips!
And a warm welcome to our new readers. Happy Day of The Fool!
Here at The Tarot School, we're fond of saying
that The Fool creates his world with each step.
As The Fool is a part of us all, we create our
own worlds with every step we take - every
decision we make. As the season changes,
here's to putting a spring in our step and making
those choices that create just the kind of world
we'd like to live in!
Speaking of Spring*...
Who's up for a little tarot "Spring-cleaning"?
Spring-cleaning, a phrase typically heard during this
season, applies to clearing out the old trapped air of
Winter and bringing in the bright, crisp air of new
life and the renewed spirit of Spring.
In this issue, the tip from author Sasha Graham tells
us how to breathe freshness into our tarot spreads. On
the same note, the Best Practices column helps
the professional with tips every tarot-preneur should
know. You will also certainly want to check out our
latest blog find, The Divination Studio.
Don't forget this is April, which means Readers
Studio! Readers Studio 2014 happens April 25 -27, 2014.
We also have the Tarot and Psychology Conference on
Thursday, April 24, 2014. Go to www.readersstudio.com
for details.
And one more thing...
Due to Readers Studio, we will not be publishing an
issue of Tarot Tips in May.
* We know it's not Spring everywhere in the physical
world, but after the long, cold winter we've gone
through, even a hint of warmer weather has gotten
us all giddy! If you're heading into the darker months,
may your inner Fool be no less "Spring-y!" Yours truly on the tarot path,
Ruth Ann, Wald & Gina Tarot Tips is here to help you with the practical side of your Tarot journey. In order to take the greatest
advantage of this newsletter, please send us your
questions regarding any aspect of your tarot study
or practice and we'll do our best to answer them
in an upcoming issue.

FRESHEN UP YOUR TAROT SPREADS!
by Sasha Graham
Do you use the same spreads for every question and
querent? Are you addicted to a three-card spread or the
Celtic cross?
Fresh spreads breathe new life into your readings and
help examine issues in a new light. Original spreads,
created by you, can have an even greater resonance and
be more effective in getting the results you desire.
Shape:
The shape of a spread affects its energy and its uses,
and creates a subtle psychological tone.
Circular spreads ~ examine the cohesive nature of life
and all aspects of the matter at hand.
Pyramid spreads ~ focus your energy either upwards
toward spiritual matters or downward creating
manifestation in the material world.
Linear spreads ~ look at the issue in calendar time.
Questions:
Spreads are built to answer types of questions, so a
question is actually the beginning and the most
important part of the spread. The question focuses your
answer. Good answers stem from great questions. For
empowering questions, be sure to acknowledge the role
you play in your own future.
![]() I've written a book of spreads for you
that guarantees you'll receive the answer
to any question for every occasion, with
a tarot spread for every day of the year.
Each spread is inspired by a holiday, fact
or interesting occurrence on that calendar date.
Here's a delicious love spread:
June 24th: Midsummer Magical Love Spread
On This Day
Today is Midsummer's Day. Magic, witches, fairies and
dancing, and many rites and rituals are associated with
this long summer's day and Midsummer's Eve. Bonfires
and fortunetelling mark celebrations in countries and
communities acknowledging Midsummer's Day.
Summation of Spread
Ready to inquire about your true love? In Italy, young
girls gathered the buds of a houseleek, one bud for
each suitor. The opening bud represented her future
husband. Such an auspicious day for the divination of
love inspires this Midsummer Magical Love Spread.
Cast Your Cards
By the flicker of dancing candlelight, cast your cards
in the shape of an opening flower and let the cards
reveal your true love:
Questions
1. Who is the object of my love?
2. Do they love me back?
3. Are we soul mates?
4. What brings us together?
5. What tears us apart?
6. Why am I drawn to this person?
7. What draws them to me?
8. What is my love history?
9. What is their love history?
10. What is the likely outcome?
11. What should I focus on? About the Author:

Tarot School Aphorism ![]() Tarot Accepted for Insurance!
In a bold move, the American Psychological
Association (APA) has declared that tarot
readings offer proven benefits to people who
are suffering emotional distress in quite a
number of categories, and that "therapeutic
readings" now qualify to be covered by
medical insurance as an alternative therapy.
The new insurance code is 0FOOL. Tarot Card Showcase
In this section we will feature tidbits on a specific tarot card. While there are many systems and decks to choose from in
the world of tarot, here we use the Universal Waite Tarot

![]() FIVE OF WANDS
Attributions:
Name: Severity
Element: Fire
World: Emanation
Planet: Saturn
Sign: Leo
Esoteric Title: Lord of Strife
Traditional Meanings:
Rules and fair-play govern energetic struggle. Excitement
and assertion characterize a heated exchange of ideas.
A structure, an organization or a plan is assembled or
disassembled in a complicated choreography.
Challenges are issued. Strength is tested. Competition
becomes fighting. Opinions become quarrels.
Scattered energy. Cross purposes. No harm -- no progress.
Staff meeting.
Imagery:
The Five Figures: At odds; symbol of random, unfocused
energy and a reference to the esoteric title, Lord of Strife.
Because the figures are not armored or protected, and there
is no sign of injury, this energy can be construed as either
playful or discordant, and only potentially dangerous.
Motley Clothing: Symbol of the interplay of random
energies.
The Green Foreground and Light Blue Background:
Symbols of neutral or benign energy favoring all combatants
equally -- a good time and place for combat.
Five Wands: Can be understood as either the construction
or deconstruction of a pentagram or any other symbolic
structure.

THE READERS STUDIO
April 25 - 27, 2014 LaGuardia Marriott Hotel, New York Best Practices for Professional Readers
5 TIPS FOR EVERY 'TAROT-PRENEUR'
By Gina Thies
There are a great many ideas and tools that will
help you grow your business and make it successful.
While many look to social media and email marketing
campaigns to sell their services, there are some other
tactics (some tried-and-true) that as a professional
practitioner you need to consider.
1. Give 'em a reason. Consider why people would
want to do business with you and take measures to play
up those reasons in everything including your content.
2. Persona. Many marketing experts recommend
creating a persona or a model of your ideal client and
then tailoring your services or material to that
persona.
3. Problem-Solving. This means more than coming
up with ideas. This means solving the needs of not only
your clients but also the market as a whole.
4. Become Flexible. To stay ahead of the competition,
you may want to broaden your skills. I personally think
the modern tarot reader will evolve beyond a "one-trick
pony" and utilize a variety of divination tools, such as
Lenormand, runes, astrology, etc.
5. Find your niche. This also means discovering what
you do and doing it well. For instance, being a party
reader may not suit you. You may be better suited to
teaching small groups. It also means spending your time
with liked-minded people, and in places where you can
seek out potential customers.
One last thing that is tried-and-true in business is
about knowing your competition. Besides the traditional
reasons for knowing them, such as to offer something
different, it is also important because, if you can create
a good relationship with them, your competition may
become a valuable referral resource, which can create
a win-win for everyone.
