- Featured Tarot Blog: That's Totally Tarot Welcome to a new issue of Tarot Tips!
And a special welcome to our new readers.
Every reading not only teaches you about tarot, but it
also gives you important lessons about life in general.
The most confusing times on a person's life journey
often lead to an encounter with a tarot reading.
Readers offer guideposts and can act as beacons of
light on this journey.
Tarot readers learn to do this by developing a
relationship with the cards through familiarity with
its language, symbols, meanings and the utilization of
spreads. Even if you're a skilled reader, a card and
sometimes an entire spread will not match what you know
or may be confusing to you.
If you have ever reached an impasse or plateau with
tarot, you'll enjoy this issue's tip on ways to
handle those moments when a reading lacks clarity or
becomes confusing in some way.
The latest blog featured in this issue belongs to
Angelo Nasio, a tarot enthusiast who has authored a
book on those things the little white book doesn't
tell you. Funnel Vision, the Best Practices article,
discusses the marketing funnel and we'll take a look
at the "illusory" Seven of Cups. Yours on the Tarot Path,
Ruth Ann, Wald & Gina Tarot Tips is here to help you with the practical side of your Tarot journey. In order to take the greatest
advantage of this newsletter, please send us your
questions regarding any aspect of your tarot study
or practice and we'll do our best to answer them
in an upcoming issue.

FAULTY INTERPRETATIONS
Interpretation is key to communicating the wisdom and
significance of the tarot images to the querent.
Inevitably, the tarot practitioner will eventually deal
with some sort of challenge, faulty interpretation or
plateau. The following are a few dilemmas that may
occur, with suggestions for overcoming them:
Situation #1: Unbalanced and Unfair Assumptions
This can occur when you interpret a card as relating to
how the querent's or other individual's behavior
has contributed to a problem without considering the
dynamics of the whole picture.
Suggestion: This often happens with court cards. For
instance, interpreting the King of Swords as the
querent's rigid partner who respects no one's
opinion but his own. The interpretation may have a
negative tone, and the card could instead be an aspect
of the querent's personality or attitude toward the
situation. You may want to just stick to describing
characteristics of the court card and confirm with the
querent if this describes another person (and whether
they are female or male). Never assume that if it's a
king it must be a male, or if a queen, that it must
indicate a female.
Situation #2: Card Meaning vs. Intuition
This happens when your intuition indicates something
very different from the standard card meanings.
Suggestion: This requires practice in knowing and
trusting your "gut" feelings. When your intuition
parts company from standard card meanings, explain this
to the querent and allow them to participate in the
reading. Card meanings are multi-layered. Consider
working with reversals, if you don't already.
Situation #3: Brain Fog
Drawing a blank on a card or feeling aversion to a
card. Uncertainty about how to interpret a card because
you forgot what it means or it seems irrelevant to the
situation.
Suggestion: This could be a way to get the querent to
open up. A good place to start is with the overall
energy of the spread. Discuss the other cards and come
back to the difficult one last. All cards are relevant
and this could be a huge growth opportunity, if not for
the querent then for the reader.
Situation #4: Plateau
This is a bit different from the brain fog in that
there is a sense of overwhelm. You may get a lot of
"This doesn't sound like me" or "I don't feel
connected" from your querent. Sometimes this is a
sign of "burn out."
Suggestion: This could be about being tired, clouded or
distracted. If you read a lot it can be exhausting,
and you may need a break. This could be an indication
of a need to review what tarot is communicating to you.
Limitations, even purely subjective ones, are a part of
life. The process of putting together the stories in
the cards can become daunting. Anyone who has read for
a long time will tell you to just push past the various
challenges that come with reading. It's well worth it
in the long run. Tarot Card Showcase In this section we will feature tidbits on a specific tarot card. While there are many systems and decks to choose from in
the world of tarot, here we use the Universal Waite Tarot
images and symbols.

![]() SEVEN OF CUPS
Astrological Attribution: Venus in Scorpio
Qabalistic
Attribution : Netzach in Briah Esoteric Title: Lord of Illusory Success A figure confronts and perhaps manipulates a vision of
misty clouds that hold seven magical cups. Each of the
cups contain an object: a head, a veiled figured with
arms outstretched, a castle, a snake, precious jewels,
a wreath and a dragon. On the cup with the wreath a
skull also appears.
The Seven of Cups is Netzach in Briah and demonstrates
very intense feelings. It is Scorpio in Venus, where
emotions run deep and passions are high. An interest in
the mystical or religious may be present in this card.
As the Lord of illusory Success, the figure is a
shamanistic type who is comfortable with the higher
realms.
The figure is cast in shadow and is presented with an
opportunity for enlightenment. This opportunity may
take the form of a quest, like the story of the Knights
of Arthurian legend who sought the Holy Grail. Or it
may signify a prophetic dream or a temptation.
The cups contain symbols of vices or things that can
prove to be challenges or distractions. They may
suggest fears or unrealistic hopes. In the Seven of
Cups, a spiritual quest can be the expression of an
internal process.
The seven symbols in the cups related to the seven
planets: Venus, Mercury, Moon, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn
and Sun and to seven tarot trumps. The order of these
planets and trumps was a highly guarded secret of
tarot.
In a reading, the Seven of Cups suggests any number of
fantasies or pipe dreams. You could be tempted by
sensual pleasure or indulge in mysticism. Your head may
be in the clouds of a dream world, projecting your own
version of desired outcomes.
Positive Keywords: Visions, imagination, desires,
dreams, potential and possibilities.
Negative Keywords: Illusions, fantasies, bewilderment,
temptation. Upcoming Events:

Best Practices for Professional Readers
FUNNEL VISION
There is a saying that goes, "If you are going to
dream, dream big." This certainly applies when you
are trying to accomplish a goal and have plans to take
your practice or business to new heights.
The master plan for building new income comes from
effective strategies. Part of your strategy should be
to know what you want. This includes a vision of how
much income you want to generate, how much time you
want to spend working, where you want to live, what you
want for your future.
You can help achieve your professional goals by
putting a marketing funnel in place. The purpose of a
marketing or "sales" funnel is to act as a filter
that separates the "finer" or more qualified
clients and filters out unqualified prospects.
The concept of a marketing funnel has been around for a
while. In general, it consists of focusing on prospect
awareness, lead generation, list building, and
continuity or nurturing of relationships and sales.
One of the ways to use a marketing funnel is to offer a
combination of low-, mid- and high-dollar products or
services. You can graduate those that start out on the
low end to the higher ticket items. This will give you
an idea of which clients are likely to purchase the
higher ticket items and it can bring focus to offering
the right products for repeat business.
Once you have your circle of dream clients, you can
make them part of something elite. People love to feel
that they are a part of something exclusive and you can
then develop other services that cater specifically to
this select group.
Also, if you have been in business for a while and want
to take your business in a new direction, the funnel
will give you a snapshot of where you should focus your
efforts. Questions arise when developing or transitioning
to professional Tarot Reading status to earn income. These can range from "How can I make money with Tarot?" and "How do I get started?" to more complex technical and business questions.
You may already be up and running and have
questions about how to enhance or ramp up your
business. We would love to hear from you. Send any
