Ahh..what can we say about The Moon? It is a very
mysterious card, perhaps the ultimate psychic card, that tells you to really pay attention to your instincts. On the other hand, some readers see The Moon as a card of deception, and the Best Practices column tells a
story about deception that as tarotists you may relate to. Join us on the Magical Tarot Adventure to our featured blog by Janina Renée. Probably all cultures have tales and myths about the moon. But in the archetypal sense, it speaks to us about our inner world affects our physical existence. The tip that follows has a really interesting spread to use with the cycles of the moon. And one more thing... We are consistently impressed with and gratified by the
creative and enthusiastic support from the tarot community.

The information a reading provides speaks to the
process of change. Change occurs on both the micro and macro levels. When we want to change something
externally, we must also modify our inner attitude. When we seek to change something that hinders or displeases us, a shift needs to occur on all levels. Here is a spread that helps us consciously work on these changes by following the phases of the moon. It is a large spread that can be used with the rhythm
of the moon cycle or as a guide for a 28-day pattern
"changing" theme used with a journal. Moon Cycle Spread Before laying out the cards, take some time to settle
into a mood that will allow you to connect to the change that you seek. This can be done as a ritual or with meditation. This is a good way to see hidden influences that block your success or help you gain insight to the inner work you should focus on for the month or year ahead. Note: Get creative with your own spread design.
The significance of each position from 1- 28 is provided.

Fourth Week - Work/Observations/Lesson Tarot Card Showcase In this section we will feature tidbits on a specific tarot card. While there are many systems and decks to choose from in
the world of tarot, here we use the Universal Waite Tarot
images and symbols.

![]() THE MOON
Astrological Attribution: Pisces
Esoteric Title: The Ruler of Flux and Reflux.
The Child of the Sons of The Mighty. Path: Netzach to Malkuth Hebrew Letter Attribution: Qoph Meaning: Back of the Head
In Waite's card, a large moon sits high above a wolf and a dog. A crayfish emerges from water at the beginning of a path that leads between the two animals. Towers are set on either side of the path that leads to a mountainous landscape in the distance. The Moon is shown with a face in profile, surrounded by rays as it rains down drops of light. Because it is shown as a crescent within a full circle, there is some debate surrounding the phase of the moon on this card. As in the Eight of Cups, the moon represents the ebb and flow of the emotional currents of Pisces. This relates to the principle of Flux and Reflux or a flow into and out of form. The primitive reflex and instinctive behavior exhibited by all species are represented by the three life forms. The meanings of this card are often associated with the etheric or dream realm, but this path may also concern the simplest level of existence in a physical world. It shows us what we have to face in order to bring about change with respect to physical limitation. The Path of Qoph connects Victory (Netzach) with Kingdom (Malkuth), and shows us not only the victory of the natural world, but also the sometimes deceptive effect of the apparent power of material forces. One of the lessons in The Moon is to recognize that no matter how far along we are in our spiritual awakening, something primitive remains in our consciousness of ourselves as physical beings in a physical world. The sun's bright light is reflected in The Moon's soft colors. The Moon's path leads to the world of the subconscious. It is where we discover if and why we are afraid of the dark. It is why fear can strike when one is "in the dark" about a matter. The cyclic moon influences the movements of the tides of our great oceans and seas. A "raining" down of fifteen small yods connects The Moon to the numerology of gematria with the Hebrew letter Chai, which has a numerical value of 15. Some deck designers see these as drops of blood connecting the path to the female menstrual cycle and the Moon Goddess. Standard intuitive interpretation of this card connects it with things we are instinctively afraid of. The moon has always been an occult symbol, cloaked in mystery and associated with superstition. When this card appears in a reading, your emotional nature and your intellect may be in conflict. You could just be doing what comes naturally in your dealings with others. Instincts may be on high alert, making it easy for you to read specific moods and feelings in your associates. Use caution and pay attention to your dreams. Moodiness can signify that your personal needs are not being met. You may need to spend time in deep contemplation, meditation or prayer. You may need to attune yourself with the mystical side of nature. Positive Keywords: Cycle, shimmer, glimmer, sympathy, empathy, psychic, intuitive, brave, aware, watchful, reborn; journey, instinct, impulse, ritual, and change. Negative Keywords: Danger, caution, darkness, gloom, deception, dissatisfaction, mistakes, hidden enemies, terror, shyness, uncertainty, lunacy, despair, and misperception. Tarot Affirmation: My natural instincts work to help me be aware of all that is good and bright. Upcoming Events:

Best Practices for Professional Readers
DECEPTIVE PRACTICES:
PROTECTING YOU AND YOUR CLIENTS
By Gina Thies -
Recently, a colleague shared a weird phone call that
she received. The call came through her business line and the male voice on the other end of the line said, "Hello, I've got all the money together." Puzzled by the caller she said, "I'm sorry, you must have the wrong number." The caller replied, "I spoke to you the other day and I've got the money together, are you the reader?" My colleague replied, " Yes, I'm a reader. I don't know what you are referring to however." With some
quick thinking and perhaps divine intervention she
asked the man, "If you don't mind telling me, how much money are you talking about?" The man replied, "$4500." This was enough to make her hang up the phone, but she had a weird feeling. She told the man, "Sir,
I don't know what is going on, but I have to tell you
that I think you are being scammed. If I were you, I would not turn over that money!" The man thanked her and hung up the phone. Hopefully the reader prevented someone from being taken for a lot of money. When a client has been deceived, a proactive role in stressing the integrity of honest and ethical practitioners becomes a necessity. But more importantly you may
have an opportunity to inform and empower people.
