And a special welcome to our new subscribers.
🌎 This month you came from: Australia, Italy, Slovenia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. We're glad you're here! I am still recovering from my recent knee replacement surgery so this will be relatively short. In this season of gratitude, I am especially thankful for the the skilled doctors, nurses and hospital staff who took care of me, and for everyone who sent me healing energy. I have a ways to go before I'm where I want to be but I've been making progress. I tend to Hermit (one of my Birth Cards) when I'm going through difficulties so if you were hoping or expecting to hear from me, please don't take it personally if I haven't been particularly social. There's some really good stuff in this month's issue. We hope you enjoy it! And one more thing... The official pub date for the 2nd Edition of our book is November 6th! We don't have it available on our website yet but you can find it on Amazon or at your favorite local bookstore. Wald and I are grateful for your support! Wishing you joy along the tarot path, Ruth Ann, Wald, Gina and Sharonah

ADVICE VS. INTERPRETATION QUESTION: Where do you draw the line between advice and interpretation? I know what advice I would take for myself from what I can see in the cards but is it being too judgmental to pass this often personal leaning on to people you read for? Is it best to just describe what you see and leave it at that or take it one step further? This leads to my second question which is about reading for friends. How can you separate out what you know about the person from what you see in the cards? I know what advice I would offer to my friends without a reading and this gets muddled with what the cards are saying, I find. This is also true at the interpretation level as well. Any advice? What is the professional stance on separating these things? Thanks for your time, Linda ANSWER: Well, Linda, since you asked for my advice, I'm not going to do a reading to answer your question. ;) You're right in intuiting that there is a fine line between the two and learning how to recognize that what you have in mind to say is not necessarily coming from the cards is an important skill to develop. This does not necessarily mean that you can only say what you see. It really depends on the querent and the situation. In cases where you have strong personal opinions, it's best to stick with a straight interpretation and keep your own views to yourself. However, there are a few ways that personalizing a reading can be useful: • Sharing Personal Anecdotes – If you've gone through something similar (an illness, a breakup, a job-loss, etc.) and have learned something useful from the experience, you can ask the querent if you may share that with them. If they agree, this can help establish an empathetic bond and build trust with the querent. • Sharing Information – If you've read a relevant book or article, know of another source of information, or have a referral for appropriate services, ask if they would like to know about it. • Suggesting a Common Sense Approach – Sometimes, I'll discuss options with a client before the cards have even been drawn: "What have you tried so far...?" "Have you considered...?" This is squarely in the "advice" category but it's obvious because there are no cards on the table. It can be useful to have this type of pre-reading discussion but it should only be a prelude to reading the cards –– and be aware that the cards may contradict what you just said. If that happens, go with what the reading says. The most important thing to remember when adding a personal element to your reading session is that you should ALWAYS preface your remarks with a "disclaimer" something along the lines of: "From my own personal experience..." "What I would do is... but that's because..." "I'm not seeing this in the cards but it seems to me..." "I may be projecting here but..." Combining the personal touch with an intelligent reading is what I personally like to do. But it's ultimately your decision. (See what I mean?) Keeping all this in mind, you shouldn't worry about knowing the person for whom you're reading. The more you know them, the deeper you can go. Find the meanings that apply best to them. If you're emotionally involved in the matter, take a deep breath, clear your mind and read what you see. If you don't feel you can do that, don't do the reading or find a time when you're feeling more objective. As always, the more you practice, the better you'll become. Recognizing that you're projecting your own stuff onto a reading and admitting to the querent that you may be doing that is the sign of a professional. Spouting your own opinions without clarifying that they are just your opinions is not. Asking this question in the first place is the sign of a pro. Keep up the good work! Wald's Words of Wisdom Diviner's Corner DREAM INTERPRETATION:
Book ReviewNUMBERS Dream interpretation and numerology are ancient practices deeply rooted in religious, mystical, and philosophical traditions. The quest to unravel the mysteries concealed within our dreams has captivated human curiosity for centuries, while the use of numbers to comprehend the essence of humanity dates back to the dawn of mathematics. In various forms of numerology, numbers are assigned to alphabets, offering a unique lens through which to explore the depths of the human psyche. For example, in Kabbalistic numerology, numbers are linked to the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet, akin to the 22 Major Arcana cards in Tarot. One of the pioneers of numerology, Pythagoras of Samos, who founded Pythagoreanism in the 6th century, is not only renowned as the father of modern geometry and mathematics but is also credited with laying the foundation for numerology. Although there exist multiple variations of numerology, the primary numbers from 1 to 9 are considered the bedrock of this esoteric science. Each of these numbers provides a unique insight into an individual's personality, motivations, and behaviors. It's interesting to note that when numbers appear in dreams, they can carry both symbolic and deeply personal significance, offering a window into our innermost thoughts and emotions. Here are some common dream interpretations for these single-digit numbers: Number 1: In dreams, the number 1 often represents new beginnings, leadership, independence, and the self. It may suggest that you are embarking on a new chapter in your life or taking a leading role in a situation. Number 2: The number 2 in dreams typically signifies partnerships, balance, harmony, and duality. It could imply a need for cooperation and balance in your life, or it may indicate a significant relationship or decision. Number 3: Dreaming of the number 3 often symbolizes creativity, self-expression, and communication. It may suggest that you need to express yourself more openly or that creative opportunities are on the horizon. Number 4: The number 4 in dreams is associated with stability, structure, and foundation. It may indicate a need for more order in your life or a focus on building a solid foundation for your goals. Number 5: In dreams, the number 5 represents change, versatility, and freedom. It could signify upcoming changes or a desire for more excitement and adventure in your life. Number 6: Dreaming of the number 6 often relates to family, love, and responsibility. It may suggest a focus on domestic matters, relationships, or caregiving. Number 7: The number 7 in dreams is associated with spirituality, intuition, and inner wisdom. It may indicate a need to explore your spiritual side or trust your inner guidance. Number 8: Dreaming of the number 8 typically symbolizes abundance, success, and achievement. It may suggest that financial or material success is in your future. Number 9: In dreams, the number 9 often represents completion, spirituality, and humanitarianism. It could indicate the end of a phase in your life or a call to focus on helping others. It's important to remember that dream interpretation is highly personal, and the context of the dream and your own life experiences play a significant role in determining the meaning of these numbers. Additionally, some dream interpreters consider the sum of multiple numbers or their arrangement in a dream for a more nuanced interpretation. For those who are familiar with Tarot, the connection between numbers and symbols becomes even more intriguing. In the Tarot deck, numbers 0 to 22 correspond to the Major Arcana cards. If a dream features a number higher than 22, it can be reduced to a single digit by summing its individual digits. For instance, if the number 302,000 appears in a dream, the reduction would be calculated as follows: 3 + 0 + 2 + 0 + 0 + 0 = 5. In Tarot, 5 corresponds to Key V – The Hierophant. To delve deeper into the dream's meaning, you can cross-reference the traditional interpretations of this card or draw from your own insights. To embark on the journey of dream interpretation, begin by journaling your dreams. Recording the details of your dreams upon waking is crucial, as it helps preserve the subtleties of the dream world. Keeping a dream journal by your bedside is a practical habit that enhances the accuracy and depth of your interpretations. We’d love your suggestion or submissions for this column! Sharonah Rapseik: Ellie, what makes your tarot practice unique and how do you express it? Ellie: I think what makes my tarot practice unique is the blend of gentle and nurturing, but "tough-love-when-needed" tone of the messages that come through. They're like talking to that one friend who is sweet and comforting, but will not sugar-coat things when you need to hear it. I love working with Divine Feminine energy and tapping into that power to help clients have that moment of clarity and rekindled passion for manifesting their dreams. My reading practice takes me all over. Depending on your role as a sole proprietor and the purpose of your business-related travels, you may be eligible to deduct expenses that are both common and necessary while you're away from your "tax home" for business purposes. Your "tax home" typically corresponds to the city or general area where your primary work activities are based, which does not have to be where your family home is located. Expenses that are commonly used and accepted for your trade or business are considered "ordinary," while "necessary" expenses are those that contribute to the functionality and benefit of your business. If you are traveling to a client who hires your for services, you have the option to include travel-related expenses in your overall fees or negotiate them separately. However, navigating the process of deducting travel expenses can be tricky. For a comprehensive understanding of what can be deducted, it's a good idea to consult the official IRS resource at https://www.irs.gov/forms-pubs/about-publication-463. Also, when it comes time to file your taxes, talk to a qualified tax professional to ensure you make the most of available deductions while staying compliant with tax regulations. THE CARDS YOU'RE DEALT –– HOW TO DEAL WHEN LIFE GETS REAL By Theresa Reed Reviewed by Sharonah Rapseik The title of this book says it all! As tarot readers, we definitely need this book in today's difficult and challenging times. Thank you, Theresa Reed for bringing much needed light to those difficult topics that most tarot readers often shy away from by sweeping these tough subjects under the rug and often injecting false and useless positivity. Theresa has written a wise and compassionate guidebook that is a "must-read" for tarot beginners and expert practitioners alike. Here is an invaluable resource for learning how to read your tarot deck at those difficult crossroads moments that eventually come for each one of us. I was impressed with the note in the front of the book. It serves as a important reminder that while tarot should not be viewed as a substitute for therapy, grief counseling, legal guidance, healthcare, or other professional services, it often emerges as the first choice as a source of comfort, healing, guidance, and a deeper connection to a higher power beyond our own selves for individuals grappling with crises. The Cards You're Dealt is a 218-page "step-by-step" guidebook focused on using the tarot for finding the wisdom to heal yourself and help others to examine life's tough and difficult topics... death, illness, divorce, job loss, global tragedies, and grief and loss in all its forms. The book provides new, modern-day card meanings for each tarot card along with new tarot spreads, practices, rituals, mediumship, journaling prompts, and even the "right" words to say to empower yourself and others to find hope and purpose. It is written in a style that is easy to understand and follow, and gifts the reader with the tools to handle very delicate, highly emotional issues. It is one that I highly recommend, and advise all tarot practitioners to keep on hand for quick reference. I'm sure that tarot readers and lovers will want to come back to this valuable guidebook over and over again!
