Bit of a tough weekend for our Premiers, but such is Covid in our life. At time of writing, the Tawa Premier points had not been updated. One thing I know, this will not set back our Tawa Boys - in fact I would not like to be J’ville trying to tame the Tiger. We have faced adversity before and come through. As a Club we will put this behind us and show our mettle on the field.
Our Canes are having their moments. I have always believed that if points are on offer, you take them. If (what a huge word) the Canes had taken the points, I believe they could have gained the Golden Point. Let’s face it, the Canes continue to be a danger in the last 20/30 minutes in all their games this Season.
Last night they came back to their winning ways with a pretty complete demolition of Moana Pacific. To their credit, Moana Pacific never gave up. Give them another Season and we will see huge development within this Team. Our Boys were never going to be taken again by PM. The Bench Boys took every opportunity to show their worthiness to the Canes and they all stepped up. It seems we may have a First Five in the Canes.
Formula One seems to be having the most interesting season they have had for many years. Used to be Mercedes with a bit of Ferrari, but has that ever changed with new competitive drivers coming from Red Bull, McLaren, Alpine, Haas, Alfa Romeo, Williams, Alpha Tauri & Aston Martin. By the way, we have a young Kiwi on the cusp of becoming a Formula 1 Driver, Liam Lawson. Liam is currently second on points in Formula 2. Another young
fella, Charles Leclerc won the Australian GP in Melbourne over the weekend.
At the same meeting we’re the Supercars with 4 Races over the weekend. Chas Mostert won Race 6 & 9, with our own Shane van Gisbergen taking Race 7 & 8. Both driving Holden ZB Commodores. Well it made my Friday, Saturday and Sunday
This Saturday is vs Johnsonville at Helston Park. Hell of a place for parking, but should be a good spectacle with our Boys itching to get back on the Field and back on track.
Here’s to a good week under “Orange” whatever that means.
