An interesting round this weekend. The Premiers came back to winning form, placing them at 7th on the table. And so the journey begins for the Premiers.
Our Premier 2's had a very convincing win as well. I watched on Tawa Rugby Live and at 24 minutes it was 29-0. I guess the writing was on the wall at that time.
Our Reserves had their first game and came away with a win as well, placing them 4th equal on the Div 2 table.
The Colts finally got underway in their 2022 competition. Clearly some "work ons" to be done, but dont despair Boys, we have the Coaches etc who are more than handy in helping turn around your fortunes.
My contact has not advised me of the Presidents outcome for their first game.
The Super Rugby certainly raised more than one or two eyebrows at the weekend. The Chiefs and Highlanders snuck in for wins along with the Blues who won somewhat more decisively than the others. Who lost money at the TAB with the Crusaders?? I just don't think you should underestimate Teams at this level. Moana Pacific will be a force to be reckoned with by next season, having another narrow loss. Might help if
the "powers to be" stop them playing two games per week. The Canes? ..... well what can you say? I do believe we are not playing with a full complement of 15 Players. Selections need to be seriously looked at.
Highlight for me was Valetini outsprinting two of our Boys to score near the post - admittedly one was a Prop.
Our Womans 7's have finally reappeared on the Sevens Circuit. They got to the Final and were beaten by the Ozzies in overtime. Still a great showing after being out for so long.
It's not all doom and gloom though, have a look at the Kiwis noted below.
Ozzie Supercars: Shane van Gisbergen (Holden) - winner of two of three races last weekend in Perth.
Ozzie Supercar 2's: Matt Payne. Great future for this young man.
USA Indycars; Alabama Grand Prix - Scott Dixon 5th, Scott McLaughlin 6th. Scott McL still 2nd on Table with Scott D 5th.
Formula E: Monaco E-Prix. Mitch Evans won both races, with Nick Cassidy 9th in the second race.
Keep an ear out for Liam Lawson and Formula One
BUT! Top this ---- Ben Stokes Captain of the England Cricket Team!!
As we keep saying, this little Country punches above its weight continuously.
Get your Visas ready, we are over the hill this weekend with the Premiers and at home with the Premier 2's.
Have a good weekend.
