Just Released - Going the Extra Mile

I'm happy to be a contributing author to another wonderful book assembled by Tom Cunningham, my friend from the Napoleon Hill Foundation.

In the book, I write about one of the most powerful forgiveness experiences I've ever witnessed and what's it like to be smack dab in the middle of a forgiveness session on your way to freedom from mental and emotional pain. It's like nothing else I know!

Here is an excerpt from the book:

What Does Forgiveness Really Feel Like?

“I would have preferred that you would have protected me, loved me, and met my needs. But you didn’t. So, I release the expectation that you ever would have protected me, loved me, and given me what I needed. I’m moving on with life now.”

Those are the words (specific to your life) that begin the journey of forgiveness within and reconciliation of oneself to oneself. It’s a journey into the mind, the heart, the physical body, and the spiritual realm to free a person from the toxic ties that have binded them to another person in a negative way.

Walking the internal extra mile can carry benefits that reach beyond what one can perceive in the moment. New understanding, fresh energy, and a renewed sense of self begin to emerge after opening to the process of internal cleansing.

Consequently, a person may feel lighter and actually weigh less after releasing themselves energetically from someone.

Scientific studies have proven that people who were asked to release a resentment then jump into the air got off the ground a full 2 inches higher than those who were told to focus on a resentment and perform the same jump.

Forgiveness can literally make you lighter.

With so much to gain (or lose depending on how you look at it), why isn’t releasing and forgiveness very popular today?

Because walking the extra mile within is scary.

If you give the hurt up (or rather heal it), what’s on the other side? Does the other person go scot free? If you open your heart, will you continue to hurt forever? Will the pain ever stop? Is forgiveness safe?

These are legitimate concerns that a person gets fully answered as they go through the process of forgiveness.

Coming through the other side, most people come to realize that their own freedom never had anything to do with the other person’s actions. One can separate their own need to hold another accountable for their behaviors from how they feel about those behaviors.

With this separation, one can release the pain. They also discover that the hurt does leave once it’s simply processed in the body, mind, and heart. Forgiveness is safe and highly recommended for good health!

Let’s look at the other side of the hurt. What if a person continues to feel robbed of joy the rest of their lives? Will one ever get over the feeling of being stuck?

The answer to that is not until the energy of emotion is dealt with on the inside.

How do you deal with it? You feel...

Going the Extra Mile is a collection of inspiring stories based off of the fourth principle from the 17 principles of Personal Achievement researched and authored by Napoleon Hill.

These stories are powerful examples of motivation to inspire the reader to consider adapting the Going the Extra Mile principle in their daily living. As a society, we have been conditioned with average and doing what we need to fulfill tasks, but the extra mile contributes in our lives to give us what we want, and not what we have to settle with life may give us.

We all have the power to change our circumstances, and the principle of Going the Extra Mile allows the effort required to change our life to what we envision it to be.
