Hitting the Reset Button
What if you could hit the reset button on life or your relationship? Would you do it? What would have to happen to get the courage to clear your mind and heart with a clean slate and how do you do it?
Most of my childhood and young adulthood, I thought what's done is done. Once something happened there was no changing, no going back, no alteration to it. That was a product of black and white thinking. The good, the bad, the ugly, it was just the way is was.
And dealing with significant trauma as a child, I thought I would always be stuck with the fallout for the rest of my life. I thought it was an unfortunate sentence to be damaged, to seemingly feel different than the rest of my friends and family.
But somewhere along the way I realized something important. That my perception in life was not always just the way it was. Things don't change, I needed to change. I realized that my experiences, both good and bad, have meaning assigned to them and if I wanted I could change what anything meant to me at any moment.
That small but profound shift in perspective was a game changer, a light bulb moment in which I really came to understand what making a choice in life meant, not just choosing what someone else wanted me to do.
I realized also that I didn't have to live as if I was damaged. In fact, I never was damaged at all. I had challenges to live and work through. I was a whole person with some limits and experiences that were unique to me and my development.
I realized that I could use my childhood trauma to my advantage to help others overcome theirs. One of the results of that is this forgiveness ministry that is now in its sixth year of helping many free themselves from feeling damaged mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
How to Hit the Reset Button
Here are the exact steps I used to hit the reset button on my life and empty myself of misery, incompleteness, and the damaged goods syndrome that I carried around for the better part of twenty years.
1. I took a hard look at my expectations: I expected to just have to grin and bear it largely in life. I expected to improve slightly but still have to deal with the damage of abuse. I also expected to never have what I truly deserved.
Then a crazy thing happened. In observing myself internally, I realized that what I expected were not my expectations at all. They were expectations placed on me from friends and family. They were taught to me in the course of growing up honestly and with the best intentions. But I realized that some of my expectations did not need to continue. I could change them if I wanted and that's when life began shifting
rapidly.
I dropped the damaged goods belief. I dropped the thought that I couldn't have what I deserved. I dropped the grin and bear it moniker and adopted a work through and overcome mantra. Life began to change because I began to align my soul with beliefs that worked for me, not the beliefs of my beloved ancestors from generations past.
2. I started forgiving a lot of people and situations: Once my beliefs started to shift, I realized I had a lot of built up resentment I had to let go of.
Everyone has a degree of Emotional Debt, which is built up resentment, anger, injustice, etc that we all carry around. I realized I was a cesspool of negative emotion and I began searching for a way to empty myself of it.
That's when I found forgiveness (or rather it found me) My first touch of forgiveness was so profound, so relieving, and so freeing that it literally changed me in an instant. It was so moving that I knew at some point in my life that I would help other people have this kind of moment too.
3. I began trusting God and Jesus more to heal my life: As much as I was thankful to shift my beliefs and understand the power of forgiveness, I knew that life would still keep happening.
The next piece for me was to begin embracing all adversity, sorrow in my life, and even my eventual death. I realized that as much as the healing had changed me for the better, that to really become a soul enriched and fully integrated person, I had to put my trust in God and Jesus for what I couldn't see coming.
And when I did that, some amazing things starting happening in my life. I began praying every day as soon as I got up. I gave a kidney away to save a life that turned into saving six lives. The forgiveness ministry began to thrive and my business work began to flourish on a whole new level.
To summarize, here was the sequence to hitting the reset button. I went inside to alter my beliefs because I realized I could. I then began emptying myself of built up grief, sadness, resentment, and anger. Then I placed my trust and my life in God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit as an act of faith to handle what I couldn't see.
Is it time for you to hit the reset button on your life?
Since I did I've never looked back, never regretted one moment of pain, hurt, resentment, and ultimately forgiveness because its brought me to where I am today and made me the person I have become...free, forgiven, kind, merciful, loving, and tolerant.
Every moment of my life has been a part of my maturation into growth and contribution, which I give back to the world in the form of charity, love, and a willingness to improve myself, little by little no matter the circumstance.
This prayer is read aloud by everyone at the end of every Forgiveness in Christ Experience Workshop. I'm sharing it with you today with the hope that you and your family have a peaceful and prosperous year in 2019.
The Forgiveness Prayer
Gracious God, grant me the willingness to end my resentment today and come back into your unconditional love.
Give me the courage to speak my truth just as I have felt it, knowing You do not fault me for feeling the way I do.
Lord, grant me the strength to bless them through your kindness and mercy.
Help me to open to your loving presence as I see, sense, and feel your divine light that nourishes me from head to toe.
O Holy Creator, usher this gentle light into my being and wash away the remnants of my resentment. I now give it all to you.
Bring thoughts of gratitude and peace into my mind and my heart.
Assist me in sending your loving light and love to those who have hurt me, as a sign to wish them well on their journey through life.
Help me to see the good in them and to accept the good in me too.
Through Your Never Ending Love, I forgive them for their part and forgive myself for mine.
I release them to be them and I release me from them.
Master, You see all things and I trust in You.
I ask this in the name of all that’s good and renewed through Your Love.
Amen.

Here is what a recent client said about
her coaching and healing experience
"Taylor was so easy to connect with that it made the first meeting completely comfortable. He was thoughtful, yet direct. One could feel the knowledge he wanted to share and passionately knew he wanted to help.
As we continued, the
exercises became harder but Taylor was able to comfort me in a healing way through each step. He was also able to customize each session for what I needed. I have never experienced a therapy or coaching session as Taylor constructs his. It is completely life changing.
Within 3 months, I have been able to stand with straight shoulders, walk around with a smile, and confidently stare many fears in the eyes. It not only has allowed me to understand how to love myself but be more aware of those around me to ensure I am setting healthy boundaries. I could write a book for the transition I am continuing to go through and I give all my thanks to Taylor for guiding me. I am forever thankful!" - Stephanie S.
