  The Anne Report

The Anne Report

Dear ,

Last week went by swiftly and only tiny tracks are left in my memory. I got a new sleep device that is supposed to help me sleep better. Seems as if I, along with half the population, have sleep apnea. My friend, who is my age, told me she felt as if her body is betraying her. I laughed, because every day it seems there is a new physical challenge on the horizon for me. “We are just getting old. Our bodies are wearing out.” I told her a few of my bodily challenges. “I feel better now.” She replied. All burdens are made easier when we realize that we are not the only ones. Okay, please do not jump on me to tell me how age is a perspective and how much influence our minds have on our bodies. I assure you; I know. I do not, however, overlook the pains in my body. I do not organize my life around them, but they are there none-the-less.

I had a friend who kept her thoughts in order, ate well, and condemned anyone who had a physical problem or did not use the proper positive language, especially when the conversation stayed on health. She knew, for sure, that we can control our bodies. Mind over matter. Then she faced an enormous health challenge. Hopefully this gave her a bit of compassion for those who were ill. The last time we talked she was waiting to die. I told her that her plan to die, which spanned over 15 years, was not working. Though she harbored many negative thoughts, her body seemed to be hanging on. “Your plan to die is not working. Maybe you need to plan to live.” We laughed together, with that kind of intimacy and respect that longtime friends have.

We went to the beach yesterday, our favorite, Edisto Beach, and are experiencing feels-like temperatures of 110 degrees. And we thought we had escaped the Texas heat! And that’s it for the Anne Report.

Is EZ (Ease) a Breeze?

We believe in suffering. What? I don't believe in suffering. Take another look. What thoughts permeate our days? What pressures loom consistently in our lives? Is it the feeling of not enough time? Not enough love? Fear of some unknown or seemingly predictable catastrophe?

My mother was a wonderful woman. She was a single mother. In the ’50s, divorce was a no-no. A single divorced woman was a pariah. Looking back, I can see why my mother, who was exceptionally beautiful, kept to herself, and socialized little. Married women thought divorcees were suspicious and possibly after their husbands. They looked down on them because they broke what they called, God’s law. Mom had a lot of reasons to suffer. She was severely burned on her leg when she was a child. Her husband left her with three children to raise, but she also suffered over things that were not real. My emotions and habits took copious notes. She suffered about the utility bill even though she had the money to pay it. I inherited that. I suffered so much about the utility bill that I created massive utility bills. I had to create a special spiritual practice to break the spell around utility bills. My mom suffered about going out. Anywhere. It was a big deal. My husband sees this tendency in me. It takes me forever to leave. I usually forget something, which is a subconscious delaying maneuver.

Don’t get me wrong: suffering is real, but I discovered a kind of suffering that is not real. It is ego driven suffering (EDS), and we love it. It gives us power and juice, but it is false power.

Faux suffering has tremendous benefits:

  • It gives us an excuse not to live our lives fully. We believe our made-up difficulties.

  • It garners sympathy from others when we present ourselves as One Who Carries Burdens.

  • It makes us self-proclaimed martyrs, even if only to ourselves. A martyr deserves a pass, doesn’t she? If she is grumpy, it is OK – after all.

  • Suffering makes us important. The one who suffers the most, is the most important, because desiring ease and living in ease is considered frivolous, not living in the real world.

  • Faux suffering gets us out of a lot of tasks. Who would dare ask someone who looks as if they would pass out if they had to do one more thing?

I am an advocate for bringing our pain to the table of life. Facing fear is an heroic task, but how can one face something that doesn’t exist? There are many things that deserve our attention, yet our culture resides in a pandemic of made-up suffering.

Am I preaching? Perhaps, but I am not moralizing. I believe we are in a transition of consciousness period. We carry the pain of our ancestors, and these burdens are with us, even if the events that originally caused the burdens no longer exist. We are amid the dissolution of the pain of the past. My mom carried her parents’ burdens into her life and passed them on to me, but they weren’t real. They were remnants of past pain, pain gone by. Now is a wake-up time. We need to identify the false burdens and stop them in their tracks.

These days, I set a daily intention to break the spell of purposeless pain. In prayer and contemplation, I go to the altar of life and ask, “May all shock, pain, and emotional negativity that have impacted my body, mind, and spirit be dissolved and may I experience the light of love.”

I do not know how you can drop those ego driven burdens, but my belief is that releasing these burdens requires surrender. These potent forces cannot be conquered by our normal state of consciousness. We need a higher power to extricate us from the legacy of false pain. While living in the now erases and heals much, it doesn’t heal all. A Course in Miracles asks, “Who would fly with the wings of a sparrow when the wings of the eagle are available?” This pull ourselves up by our own bootstraps mentality may be somewhat effective, but it’s the sparrow mentality. Ravenous pain and generational suffering need the power of the eagle, and only in surrendering to that power within will we find the relief we seek.

We can release ego driven suffering and stop our burdens instantly, but it takes something greater than ourselves to dissolve the repetitive pattern of useless suffering. These patterns have a presence, a life, and they will not leave without a fight. I am tired of fighting, so I ask daily to release false pain and suffering before it even has a chance to arrive.

Is ease a breeze? From where I stand, it looks as if we make it hard to be at EZ (Ease). Let’s set our intentions daily to release our false suffering, because when we do, life becomes easier and easier.

This group is a place to post uplifting affirmations and thoughts about prosperity and abundant living. Let’s create a right relationship with money so that we feel comfortable about money. Let’s use money as it’s meant to be used, and not as a way to accumulate power or to fill a void. We don’t need money to buy more stuff. We need it to create a world that works for everyone. We want to cast off old beliefs of lack and reclaim our natural state of abundance. Anne, AKA Dr. Money, posts a nightly goodnight video for the prosperity team, and everyone who watches those videos becomes a part of the prosperity team.
