  The Anne Report

The Anne Report

Dear ,

We had another eventful weekend with the boys. Saturday we went on a two hour walk in the woods. Before leaving, I asked Thomas if he was ready to go. He replied, “I’m starving. We can’t go to the forest when I’m starving. It’s not like there will be a buffet laid out in the forest, Grand MaMa.” Thomas had a snack. Then Reynolds, Thomas, Grandpoppy, and I finally departed for our adventure. First the boys played on the playground for a long time. The energy of youth amazes me. I sat on the sidelines, and they ran nonstop. On the walk, there were creepy crawlers and birds along the way, as I walked and they ran, skipped, hopped, and leaped the trail that often intersected the Ashley River. We hiked the land where escaped slaves, or maroons, once lived. A chilling thought to be living in a swampy area, with few resources, vigilant night and day for your life. I hope there were not as many mosquitoes then as there are now. Fortunately, I brought our essential oil repellent, which kept us bite free.

There was a farmers’ market in our neighborhood on Sunday. The commons lawn was canopy-filled with everything from pumpkins to children’s books. There was the jumpy house and the blowup slide. Hallelujah. I spoke with a woman who had been to the Flowertown Festival with her children. Remember that slide Thomas was afraid to slide down? Her child was hurt on that infamous slide. She also saw a child break her tooth on the slide. She was so upset that she called the slide company, and they lowered the slide, so it was not so steep. Kudos on her.

Always fun when the boys come. And a lot of work too! I am exhausted when they leave, but hungry for their return. My best friend comes in Monday from Texas. I am so excited. Moving here during COVID kept us from our usual social development. Many groups have returned to virtual meetings. I attend five virtual meetings per week, but it’s not the same as in person! And that’s it for the Anne Report.

Words Make a Difference

Language is fickle. We can cozy up with words, only to discover a vast latitude of meaning. One time the word liberates and the next time it murders. One can execute a plan and turn life toward self-fulfillment or execute an innocent person and leave a family bereft. Words have the power to turn our lives upside down. They can be weapons of mass disruption, weapons of mass destruction, or missives of peace.

Words string themselves together to make ideas come alive. From the positive to the pejorative, words frame our lives. Think of all the “he said/she said” arguments. “I’m right; you’re wrong” conversations catapult us into an intellectual robbery that shatters any possible we-ness. This happens on the micro and the macro level. America is one family, and our extended family, our cousins, are spread around the world. But words blind us. They turn our family members into others, and the Golden Rule flies out the window.

Okay, I’ve been a bit hard on words. Words are the instruments we use to dispense our fears, our values, and our visions. There are words that I cherish, as well as words that became building blocks of my self-image. I once took an insurance class. I loved the class and eagerly read all assignments as if they were sacred. When the last class was over, the teacher took me aside and said, “Anne, I’ve never had a student like you. I admire your enthusiasm for life. You were so attentive in class. It was my privilege to teach you. You are the best student I’ve ever had.” What a wonderful thing to tell a student. And, believe me, he was not hitting on me. This was an authentic gesture, and though I do not remember the teacher’s name, I still treasure his words. Maybe the universe gave me this spot of glory, because not long after this class, one of my favorite teachers was murdered. Time, of course, did its magic, and the pain of the tragedy receded, but the powerful words of the other teacher found a permanent home in my heart. My teacher was a hero; he was vulnerable enough, and self-assured enough, to be kind to me. The Dalai Lama says his religion is kindness, and though my teacher was not a Buddhist, he walked the way of the Buddha by sharing loving kindness.

It’s sad when we humans bottle our kindness and dole it out in such miserly ways. Our minds hold thousands, if not millions, of words. Think of all the people we could support with our words. “You have beautiful eyes.” “You are amazing. Amazing!” “I love you.” We could put together enough kind words to heal the world if everyone did unto others with kind, generous, and loving words. It is not like we will ever run out of words. We can use and reuse words. And we should. The word love should be given away with wild abandon. The word love wakes up the sun and causes it to rise in our souls.

We all know to mind our words, but the challenge is to move past our inner emotional outbursts so we can become ambassadors of meaningful words. We have all the words we need to create a world that works for everyone. I believe that words make a difference, and that’s why I wrote the book, Words Make a Difference. Let’s join together in using our words to make our lives and our world EZier and EZier for everyone.

This group is a place to post uplifting affirmations and thoughts about prosperity and abundant living. Let’s create a right relationship with money so that we feel comfortable about money. Let’s use money as it’s meant to be used, and not as a way to accumulate power or to fill a void. We don’t need money to buy more stuff. We need it to create a world that works for everyone. We want to cast off old beliefs of lack and reclaim our natural state of abundance. Anne, AKA Dr. Money, posts a nightly goodnight video for the prosperity team, and everyone who watches those videos becomes a part of the prosperity team.
