Introducing our 2017 D4TS
Scholarship Recipients!
Drum roll please!

Dollars 4 Tic Scholars is pleased to announce the five recipients of its 2017 Dollars 4 Tic Scholars Tourette Syndrome Scholarships. Our recipients are Jared Termini, Annie Wyrick, Mason Taylor, Thomas Licato, and Jason Ingerick. Click the blue button below to meet our recipients and find out where they are going to college and what their majors are. While there, you can click to read essays from many of our outstanding applicants to get a better understanding of how Tourette Syndrome affects their daily lives and how they remain determined and motivated to further their education. They are all truly amazing!

Sen. Menendez Pushes for Further Research Efforts for Tourette Syndrome
"U.S. Senator Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) reintroduced legislation that refocuses the National Institute of Health’s (NIH) efforts to discover new treatments and a cure for Tourette Syndrome (TS)." The Tourette Association of America broadcasted the news about the proposal for Sen. Menendez's CARE for Tourette Syndrome Act, which would seek to expand current NIH programs on TS by allocating existing funds towards improving information on the prevalence of TS and understanding it further.

In other news, an international team of doctors and scientists, including Dr. Carol Mathews of the Genetics Institute at the University of Florida, just conducted the largest study of Tourette Syndrome. The study identified genetic abnormalities in two genes representing the first two definitive Tourette Syndrome susceptibility genes.

Funds (& Fun!): Summer Camp Paint Party
The creations made at our 3rd Annual Summer Camp Paint Party were breathtaking and we had tons of fun! Thank you to all our supporters and those who came to paint wineglasses with beautiful palm trees or chevron patterns in the D4TS colors. We raised $680 to help send 2 children with Tourette Syndrome to Tourette Syndrome summer camp this July, thanks to your participation. (Summer Camp is our charity's secondary mission and very important to these children ages 7 to 17.) Be sure to join us next year for our Paint Party during Tourette Syndrome Awareness Month. Who knows what we'll be painting then!

Sponsor Spotlight: AHEPA Chapter 487
We thank our sponsor AHEPA Chapter 487, a fraternal organization that promotes the ideals of ancient Greece including philanthropy, education, civic responsibility, and community service. We asked them a few questions about their involvement with Dollars 4 Tic Scholars. Learn more below.

Promoting education and philanthropy are some of the staples of AHEPA, but what inspired you to support D4TS by sponsoring one of our Scholarship Recipients each year?
We agreed to support D4TS at $1,000 each year for three years because we not only believe it's a terrific cause, but we want to fully support our brother Chuck and the Diamantis family.

What does D4TS and our scholarship recipients mean to you as an individual and as an organization?...

Great Give was a Great Success
Thank you to all our generous donors for remembering Dollars 4 Tic Scholars on May 17 during Great Give, a national day of philanthropy. Our "Growing to Grad School" campaign was exciting and it was humbling to see the donations come in. Through online and offline donations, Dollars 4 Tic Scholars raised $810. Add with our generous donor supplying matching funds - we raised $1,620!

Thanks to you and your support of D4TS, we will be able to award one scholarship to a graduate student with Tourette Syndrome in 2018...another goal reached in our continuing desire to grow to help more students with TS! See those graduates in the photo? That's how we feel - jumping for joy!

Valuable Volunteers
We are pleased to announce that Jessica Grossman has joined us as our new volunteer in the office, assisting with our administrative and marketing needs! She brings with her experience as a bookkeeper, a wonderful attitude, and a passion to help others. Welcome, Jessica!

Rachel Lopez has been one of our in-office volunteers assisting with our administrative and marketing needs since November, 2016. She will be leaving us to pursue her J.D. at the University of Miami and we hope that once she's finished she'll lend her legal knowledge to us here at D4TS. It will be tough to replace her, but we wish her the best and know that she will continue to stay connected with and support Dollars 4 Tic Scholars.

Dining Days - A Scrumptious Success
On April 20, we had a delicious D4TS Dining Day at California Pizza Kitchen. Thank you to all who came out to enjoy some wonderful food and a great time. Fortunately, we got to see several of you at the Boca Raton location! We are proud to say that your efforts reigned in $125 dollars for our tic scholars! That amount could cover local fees or even a full credit hour of tuition for a student. Every dollar counts and we greatly appreciate you coming out CPK to help support our students with Tourette Syndrome.

Now it’s time to mark your calendars -- we have our next D4TS Dining Day coming up on July 20 at Teriyaki Madness in Mission Bay Plaza in West Boca! Keep an eye out for our emails as we send out more information on our next tasty fundraiser!
