Criminal organisation with nukes blackmails the West.

Alas, not Emilio Largo working for SPECTRE this time but Vladimir Putin and his Kremlin cronies.

I remember when the West was worried about nuclear warheads getting into the hands of criminals.

Turns out we should have worried about criminals getting their hands on the actual government of a country with nuclear weapons.

While I usually try and steer clear of anything that might be construed as political, sometimes - like now - it is unavoidable.

Ukrainians are being bombed by Russian forces and civilians are being targeted. Putin is sending in poorly trained conscripts as cannon fodder. They - and the families of the Russian dead - are victims too.

So, until Putin orders a ceasefire and withdraws his troops I support sanctions against Putin's regime. I also support sanctions against those who looted their wealth after the collapse of the USSR. Putin's puppets in the West need to be sidelined too.

If you live in Russia you may not know that Russian armed forces have invaded Ukraine and are targeting both military and civilian targets. Russia is waging a war against Ukraine.

Russian subscribers are still welcome here and always will be.

Putin supporters, appeasers and apologists are not though.

Don't bother emailing me if you are, I'll just delete your email and block you. Save your breath and unsubscribe now. You are part of the problem.

OK, rant over, let's look at what is happening in the world of James Bond.

News

Back in early November Ian Fleming Publications announced a new trilogy of books focusing on new recruits to the Double O section. And in February the title and synopsis of the first book in the series were revealed. Written by Kim Sherwood, the forthcoming series mark a move away from James Bond continuation novels. Instead 007 is has gone missing and possibly dead.

While No Time to Die is nominated in three categories the producers have another route to an Oscar. Prospects for James Bond at the 2022 Oscars

Podcast/livestream

I sometimes appear on James Bond & Friends as well as record a livestream with Bill Koenig of The Spy Command.

After every newsletter I get people asking who will be the next James Bond? When will the next film be?

Answer: I don't know, and nor does anyone else. I think it is unlikely to be announced any time soon and none of the actors mentioned in the tabloids will be the next Bond. It doesn't work like that. And I think the producers won't even think of a new Bond film until the Amazon deal is finalised.

Well I guess that's all for now. Keep safe, wherever you are, and I'll be back next month with more on the world of 007!
