WHAT'S WABI-SABI BEAUTY?
"Developed in fifteenth-century Japan, wabi-sabi is an aesthetic that finds beauty in things imperfect, impermanent and incomplete.
-Andrew Juniper
Wabi-sabi beauty is a way of seeing things from a point of view that respects what is old and worn too. It embraces authenticity over shiny perfection. It is said that seeing in a wabi-sabi way can lead to an altered state of consciousness that opens the heart to reverence and grace.
And don't we see
beauty in ancient ruins, in old trees, and in the patina of antiques and other things grown beautiful with age and use?
So when will we become wise and loving enough to see beauty in our elders and in ourselves as we age?
May seeing in wabi-sabi ways be something we grow to appreciate more and more.
With love, compassion, and wisdom,
Charlene
