“We have no right to
ask
when sorrow comes,
"Why did this happen to me?"
unless we ask the same question
for every moment of happiness
that comes our way."
- Author Unknown
We may not know the author of this quote, but we can credit wisdom as the source of the ah-ha it's
likely to bring.
And, while I appreciate the point this quote makes,
I'd like to present it in the form of a slightly softer question:
Who are we to expect joy in our human lives yet
consider ourselves undeserving of human suffering?
And, I want to blend love and compassion into the issue.
While it doesn't serve us to fight the storms, sorrows, and sufferings
that come into our lives, nor does it help to judge ourselves harshly for asking, "Why
me?"
Let's aim to grow in understanding, wisdom, and compassion as we go through all our human experiences. Gratitude, joy, and hope too.
With love always,
Charlene
